I like (& have) the silver/black E-M5, but the E-M1 that later came out with silver was too much silver with the knobs as well, however this silver E-M1 Mk II looks nice, but not something I would pay more for though.

Re: New silver E-M1 Mark II camera

The Silver Mark II’s starting to grow on me now tbh. Wouldn’t look right with silver lenses though as they’d be a different shade of silver

Re: New silver E-M1 Mark II camera

To be honest I think black lenses look best with a silver and black bodied camera.
My now departed Pen-F was always paired with black primes. Capable of very nice images too as well as looking an attractive bit of kit

Re: New silver E-M1 Mark II camera

My Braun electric razor started out being silver but after a few years the paint is wearing off in some areas.
I am not a fan of the limited edition.

Hope the new firmware rumor is true though.

I'm a 'limited edition' & my beard started out black (dark brown etc), but now it's silvery.
Sorry, I couldn't pass that one up.

Is it supposed to be bringing something special then? I was hoping that they may be able to implement the hand held hi res function but apparently that needs two processors which the EM1-II doesn’t have

I have no idea sorry. I was referring to what Ross said in the first post of this thread.

Another FW to come with the Silver model was only wishful thinking on my part, but when the Silver E-M1 came there was a major (2.0) FW update too.
I think any FW updates will have to wait until the E-M1X has had 'time to shine'.

TBH one of the main things I'd like is the hand held hi res function but apparently that needs two processors so it won't be available on the EM1-II. The ND filter thing would be nice too, not sure whether they could implement that on the EM1-II, it's only software and not true ND filters. It's basically a variation on not the live composite.

Re: New silver E-M1 Mark II camera

After being at an Olympus 'hands on' (E-M1X) event at Olympus in Sydney (Macquarie Park) last night the staff did agree there will be another FW update although to expect it to be the same level as the E-M1X would not be realistic but we are likely to get something to keep the E-M1 II relevant & particularly the "Limited" Silver model (not their words directly but my take on what they were saying). They did emphasise the fact that the E-M1 II will be supported with FW updates up to the ceiling of the hardware capability before they will replace it as a model to continue along side the E-M1X. In other words the hardware is capable of doing more still with some of these improved features in the E-M1X (but not necessarily at the same level etc., with half the processing power etc.). From that we might see an E-M1 III by the end of 2020 (or early 2021, but now I'm guessing).

Interesting, thanks. I have been doing some reading around and I think I got it wrong, the EM1-II DOES have two processors and not one like I thought, therefore I'm wondering if hand held hi res shots will be an option with firmware updates?

Also regarding hi res mode, does this give you a hi res RAW file, or is the hi res jpeg only?
