I had the 45mm f1.8 fitted whilst I tried it but after swapping it for the 12-40, I saw that it worked. Looks like he 60mm macro may be my next purchase.......Focus stacking for landscapes and macro them.

I have tried focus bracketing with my 50-200 ED, no luck on the EM-1, it remains greyed out in SAF and CAF mode

Re: Firmware updates - 2AM on Thursday 26th

Just been playing with the focus bracketing with my Panasonic 45mm lens.... Works amazingly well, but needs some work to get the best out of it - and some stacking software, which I currently don't have!

Re: Firmware updates - 2AM on Thursday 26th

I'm really impressed with this update. Besides the headline improvements such as focus stacking and electronic shutter, there are some nice additional features that I wasn't expecting:

- customisable live-view and playback modes (I really like this )
- live boost settable by camera mode
- continuous shooting with zero-sec anti-shock

It's all worked faultlessly so far - well done Olympus!

Re: Firmware updates - 2AM on Thursday 26th

I updated to 4.0 weeks (months?) ago! Checking today shows that my firmware is up to date. Also for both my Pro lenses. Where do I find the focus stacking? It's nowhere I can see, and it's not in the latest version of the manual.

How can you have updated to FW 4.0 for the E-M1 when it was only released on the 26th November? It was only announced last month for release in late November.
Quote:
Olympus Announces Firmware Updates
15/09/2015
New OM-D E-M1 v4.0 firmware brings major feature enhancements to video recording and macro photography capabilities. Firmware v2.0 for the OM-D E-M5 Mark II introduces video specific enhancements for professional use. Additional updates are also announced for Olympus Capture software and M.Zuiko Lenses.
OK, there were some models floating around for some reviewers to try & evaluate but if you had it earlier then you must know somebody then.

The latest E-M1 Version 4 manual has Chapter 15 (added to the Version 2 copy) that includes all the updates & you can find it here. http://www.olympus.co.jp/en/support/...em1_ver4_e.pdf

Re: Firmware updates - 2AM on Thursday 26th

Yes it is curious. I don't know anyone, and I followed the perfectly normal update path when invited to by Olympus. There was no suggestion that it was a BETA or test copy or anything like that. Maybe Olympus is playing silly buggers with everyone!

I've just checked updates again this morning, and it shows that my EM-1has the latest firmware installed.

I suggest you get in touch with Olympus, explaining how you go the v4 firmware and ask them how to confirm that it is the latest version. I hope you did not load it from a none official source, as that will have invalidated the warranty:

Re: Firmware updates - 2AM on Thursday 26th

Help!

Twice now I have tried to update the software on my Em1. After connecting it to the computer and opening the updater it tells me that it failed to connect with the camera.
As a test I've downloaded some pictures from the camera onto my Pc so I know it can talk to it. (I normally just plug the card in to download pics)

Any ideas?

Martin

Make sure the USB setting on your camera is on "Storage".

Are you saying you have FW 4.0 on your E-M1? Also, are you using the latest Updater 1.2.1 (software update from Olympus Viewer 3).
