Bloody Sunrise on Southern Cross Station

This was the view from our hotel balcony the day before the weather turned nasty.
The Age is sort of Melbourne's London Times if you will, situated opposite Southern Cross Station on Collins Street,

The morning sky was afire, it lit up the apartment urging me to leap out of bed and onto the balcony, eager to catch the light.

The XZ-2's focus turns westwards to capture the first golden rays of sunshine highlighting some apartment blocks.

After a light continental breakfast we crossed the road to the station to catch a train to Flinders Street and then by tram to the Botanical Gardens.

By that time it was seriously raining so a visit to the National Gallery was decided instead.
Hours later the rain eased, so we were able to visit the gardens for some more saturated colour without getting too saturated ourselves!

Oh, and these images by the way were those that a few days ago I had inadvertently deleted from the SD card,
but today after much perseverance I was finally able to recover them using the Sandisk Rescue software that came with it

Oh yes; they are wonderful photos. I liked them all; what lens did you use for the first picture? marvelous to get all that detail in. I loved the Tram-car in the rain.

Hi Moss. The XZ~2 is a fixed lens compact with a zoom range of around 14-56mm. I used full zoom.

Thanks Stephen - It was a great relief to have figured how to recover the deleted images. I will be posting a new thread in the lounge in a day or so as to how I managed it, and what went wrong with the first rescue attempts.

The hotel has a great view, obviously an ideal place to stay! Well done recovering these pictures, what a relief!

At first I thought you were using that good old Aussie adjective in your title to blame the sunrise dazzle for waking you up - we all know how bright those sunny days are in Melbourne
Nice set Mark - love the interior station shot too.
Glad you retrieved the files.

Re: Bloody Sunrise on Southern Cross Station

Hi Mark, lovely shots and well worth the patience to rescue. The morning red sky, definitely shepherd's warning!

I have a CD of our first holiday in Lake Garda made using Roxio that won't load. I wonder if there may be some tips on Google to coax it into life.

Love the internal station shot.

Amanda
