Re: Price advice please

Do the bodies come boxed with all accessories?

Are the lenses boxed with caps and hoods?

If so, sold individually that's over a grand 2nd hand BUT you'll be hard pressed to sell everything to one person for more than £750-800.

Why not price here individually for a quick sale of each, posted:

Oly E3 body - £350
Oly E450 body - £90
Oly 18-180 (no lens hood) - £150
Oly 70-300 - £190
Oly 14-45 kit lens - £40
Oly 40-150 kit lens - £50 (I'll have this to start you off if it's the MkII! )
Sigma 50-200 lens - £don't know about this one

Alternatively go down the Ebay road and you will possibly get a fair bit more overall.

John
I priced his 70-300, and the other items, for a quick, wife pacifying, sale.
I'm in no rush. Indeed I've suggested undercutting my own 70-300 lens!

Don't forget ebay will lose you 10% and PayPal another 5%!

Re: Price advice please

E-3 body in good condition and low(ish) shutter count - £450 would be about right.

Not for a quick sale.
There's been here at £425 for ages.
Mine cost £350 delivered.

Just a reminder : this is Carlos' thread.
I'm sure he'd like to sell stuff, not practically give it away. Let's not attempt to cheat other members.

Oh my gosh. did I just say that!

Re: Price advice please

Im not in the market for any of these, but £480 to £500 for the E3 is a good price I would say seeing what they are going for on Ebay, E450 I would say around £280not sure about the lenses though.

Dave

PS The 70 300 goes for around £200 to £230.

Yes, and let's point out that the OP didn't say he was after a quick sale. Babies do take ~9 months to arrive..

I paid £220 plus P&P for mine off ebay about a year ago it's mint and I thought that was a good price. Wouldn't sell for much less.

Re: Price advice please

Carlos,
I think it is all about timing when selling second hand high value niche market items - you've just got to study the market. I spent some time on eBay recently looking for a 50-200 lens. I had one on my watch list that I was going to sit out to the end before making a bid - I was distracted at the last moment and it went for £300 (it was the SWD version). That made me check subsequent sales and the next two went for in excess of £550. Equally I managed to get an E-3 and 14-54 together for £472 on eBay but that was pure luck on a slow day. I think overall the prices quoted are on the low side if you have time to pick you moment for the sale. I would also agree you'll get more of a market if you sell them individually. Though one tip for eBay sell a camera and lens combined - you'll get far more interest from the general public. Selling a camera body only really only attracts enthusiasts.

Can you not convince your wife of the value of keeping at least some of the kit with images like these (hope you don't mind me showing your thread Martin)? There's another one recently I cannot find of a newborn cupped in the parents hands - it's absolutely stunning.

Re: Price advice please

Oh dear, the "for Sale" section always seems to cause controversy these days and now post No2 of this thread has flagged up as a reported post, reason being the suggested prices quoted are too low and constitute unfair advice. It has been requested that this particular post be removed in the interests of fairness, not by the OP but by another concerned member of our community.

I'm not going to remove the post as it breaks no rules and, I sincerely hope, was a list of suggested prices made in good faith, if maybe a little pessimistic from the seller's point of view. I hope and trust that no member here would ever deliberately falsely advise another member in this respect. However, I think it is commendable that other members have stepped forward to point out the apparant disparity between the prices suggested and those that have actually been obtained or listed for similar equipment on the forum recently. I'm sure we all take pride in the spirit of fairness we have hear on E-System User Group.

My advice to the OP would be to study past threads from this section to get an idea of the going price on the forum, particularly recent items. Also look at ebay to see what sort of prices have been obtained there recently. Pricing will obviously depend on how quickly you need to make a sale but don't start too low, you can always come down but it's very difficult to go up!

Finally, if my wife was insisting I sold my E-3 I would put it up for about £1000 and several months later say "Oh dear, it doesn't seem to be selling very fast, might as well keep it to get some wonderful pictures of our baby when he or she arrives!"
