Well doesn't time fly when your're having fun,

It's time already to reveal the winner of 'Shadows' the 9th forum Challenge.

My thanks goes to all who submitted entries and to those who took the time to vote.

So without further ado I declare Pete (snaarman) the WINNER for his entry 'Jazz Club', followed by Ellie for 'Through the Window' in second with Tim_g hot on their heels in third place with 'Persian Portrait'

So once again Congratulations to all entrants, especially Pete

Now over to Pete (again!) to run the 10th Forum Comp, keep your eyes peeled for details soon.

Thanks
Neil

Re: 9th E Group Photo Challenge-The Result...

Aaargh Twice! OK guys, what we need is more entrants next time

Anyway, thanks for all the votes and the great pictures Ellie, Tim_g and the rest.. I will have a short think and come up with a new subject for our next contest.

Meanwhile a short explanation is in order maybe:

Take a sheet of watercolour paper and trap it hanging off the edge of the desk with a sheet of glass. Keep the glass in place by placing a halogen desk lamp on top of it. Now anything you place on the glass casts a shadow down the paper. A large paperclip, for example? Bend the watercolour paper to get a nice curvy shadow. Take several shots, pick the two best and combine them as 2 layers in photoshop using "darken". Fiddle around for an hour or so until it looks right.

Finally think up a pretentious title

Pete

Well done Pete and thanks for your explanation on how it was done. Well done to all the other entrants too. As someone who spent some time trying to decide an order of merit, I have to say it was difficult.
Good luck to all for the next competition.

Peter

An excellent set of pictures. Lets try for more entries in the next challenge; Which is here.....

http://e-group.uk.net/forum/showthre...7469#post27469

This is going to be "Depth of Field"..

Lets show the world what 4/3rds glass can do eh! With these superwides, the macro lenses and the long teles there must be a world of opportunities going...

Thanks once again, a great honour to have won a second time - (though I personally think Ellie's pic was a better one)

Congratulations Pete

Thanks for saying how you made the picture, I thought you'd used two light sources to get two shadows. Very cleverly done, and the best photo did win!
