Arctic Tern Patrol (Farne Islands)

Taken during a trip to the Farne Islands in June 2015, a wonderful place.

Thanks for looking.

Had to Google Farme Islands. They look great for a visit. Great shots - especially the low flying one.

Super shot Dave. Was it one of a sequence? If so a triptych set with varying wing angles would look good I bet.

a couple of excellent shots, love the detail in the first one but the angle intrigues me as it looks as if you were flying level with the bird seeing those people below and in front of you

Thanks Phill,

Yes, the second pic is one of a sequence, I posted one from this set back in June.

I like your triptych suggestion, I don't think I could manage that on one image in Photoshop however, I may be able to produce three separate pics.

Thanks for looking and commenting.

Thanks Brian,

I was standing on a slope above the people below, the tern flew almost parallel to me and above those below, hence the angle.

If you haven't been to the Farne Islands, I thoroughly recommend them.

Mind the weather though as we visited there a few years ago and the boats only sailed to the islands one day during our seven day stay, disappointing as we'd intended to go out to the islands several times.

The trip in June 2015 was excellent.

These are one of my favorite birds and you have captured them well.
