Re: Samyang 7.5mm F3.5 Fish-eye

Thank you, Damian !
The samples are very usefull and help me to realize how this lens performs.
The IQ is similar to my 8mm lens.

The 7.5mm I like more because of the size (is smaller than 8mm lens), but currently I have E-5 so the 8mm is the only one who fit.

I'm interested in getting this lens for some quirky landscapes but just not sure how much use it will get.

That's the situation I found. Having bought it new, I ended up using it on something approximating to a dozen separate occasions. It's a novelty lens, and if you use it too often all your shots will look the same. Used once and again it's ok. I sold mine in the same condition as I bought it, i.e like new. If you must scratch that itch, I'd recommend getting one 2nd hand.
Other people's mileage and all that stuf my vary (what a terrible import that expression is, nearly as bad as trick or treat ).

Re: Samyang 7.5mm F3.5 Fish-eye

It might be a specialty lens, but it's definitely got its uses. I use mine a fair bit and given that it's not too expensive (especially second hand), it earns its place in my bag. Here's one from January and another one from Feb. BTW - sharpness wise, I think the Samyang is amongst my sharpest lenses. Certainly better than any kit lens I've used.

Maybe Paul, I may just have to add the Samyang to my one lens outfit

I do not think there is any real difference between 2 for the angle of view.

There is one thing which has to be mentioned.
Many people complain on the internet about quality-control problems for the Samyang lenses. Decentering is often a problem for Samyang lenses.

I have an Samyang 8mm which I bought it used.
I noticed the left side is softer compared to the right side. So my lens is decentered.
Right side is sharp enough for me, but left side is too soft - good only for personal&ocasional use.

Re: Samyang 7.5mm F3.5 Fish-eye

I agree about Samyang QC. The 7.5 FE has a reputation for focus calibration problem - including stopping short of infinity focus. Mine is borderline in this respect, but I almost never use it wide open at distant subjects so it's not a big deal. This particular problem is fixable though - you just need to adjust the screw thread on the rearmost element. There's a post over on mu-43.com about it.

Re: Samyang 7.5mm F3.5 Fish-eye

Yes, the calibration of the focus ring is another issue which happens very often for Samyang, but at least it can be fixed at home.

The decentered lens issue can be fixed only in service. This happens when one element is not perfectly centered - ussually is the front element.
