Hi from Essex

Hi I'm Mike, a micro four thirds user from the extreme NE of Essex.
I've not yet got an Olympus body (currently 3 Panasonic ones) but at least I have a few Olympus lenses
When I can next justify an upgrade I'd be very keen to get IBIS & focus peaking...
I've been heavily into photography for ~8 years having revived an interest from my youth, and now play with most forms of photography to the limits of my budget.

Re: Hi from Essex

Hi there Mike!

Welcome to the forum. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your images, but as this is primarily an Olympus site you'll have to get round to getting that new Oly camera soon - the E-M5 mark 1 is a fantastic bargain at the moment.

Cheers,

Ralph.

Re: Hi from Essex

Thanks for the welcome.
I know the EM5 is a bargain at the moment but I've overspent on cameras in the past few years & have to reign right in or I won't be able to go out to take photos!

I know the feeling!

Shots taken with Olympus lenses are perfectly acceptable on the forum and you can sneak in the occasional one's that aren't!

Thanks John, Here's one with the 9mm fisheye BCL lens then (with a 680nm IR filter held in front of the lens, so a little cropping was needed to remove my fingers)

Re: Hi from Essex

That's a great shot with a very basic but surprisingly good wide angle lens!

Re: Hi from Essex

A belated welcome. But... Oh no, not another engineer!

You'll be alright here as none of us are perfect. Probably explains why we use Oly gear.

Yet another IR user/abuser which should add to the fun. It seems to be a recent up and coming theme as a few here have just recently converted or are thinking of doing so.

Seriously, though, welcome to the forum and hope to see/hear more from you in the near future.

Yep, there not that many of us, slipping into the arts.
Do you find your work gives you any photo related opportunities? Perhaps in microscopy (A field where my technique is sadly lacking).
Apart from the odd trip away, mine doesn't have much - one bottle of petrol looks very much like another - but at least the spectroscopy kit can be useful on the technical side of Infra red. The few trips away do offer some release - I'm working at the British Touring cars this weekend, and will probably be able to fit in some motorsports photography, and perhaps see a bit more of the area around Derby.
