Re: Nominations for Room 101

Business customers that bring a big pile of parcels for shipment to exotic places. It takes a very long time for each parcel to be weighed, custom checked.

Why do not the business do a deal with the Post Office to collect the mail and to have a stamp franking machine to handle the paying for the mail.

Increased volume between television programmes, ITV for commercials, even BBC when informing viewers what's coming next, later, or another BBC channel.

Because many smaller businesses do not have enough volume to justify a Royal Mail collection, and other couriers are expensive for low volumes, so they use their local Post Office.

Post is always left as late as possible to avoid interrupting business, to allow a late order cut off time, and so that only one visit needs to be made to the Post Office.

This has the added benefit of keeping the local Post Office open for all, including the old ladies who insist on posting letters to great nieces in Mogadishu at five to five on a Friday evening.

I would add that Franking machines are hideously expensive unless you post huge volumes.

Fracking. I would put Fracking into room 101 along with the money grabbing frackers (and politicians) that care more about lining their pockets than the environment, chucking more methane and CO2 into the atmosphere and poisoning the water supplies and food chain.

I would settle for politicians.

Maybe we should put all the tax dodgers into a pink Barbie bus so we can throw Edwina's rotten eggs at it.

The possibility of fracking has caused the oil price to fall to such a level that fracking is not economic.

eBay sellers (mostly women) that bring dozens of parcels to the post office and spend ages getting them weighed, measured, recorded, stamped, etc., when all I want is one stamp to send a letter...

You could always buy a pack of stamps from your supermarket next time you go in - then you will have one when you need one, and a first class stamp is always a first class stamp, even when they put the prices up!

Import duty and taxes worldwide. They inhibit trade and prosperity.

Is the quote complete? Surely Q6 is "Do you have a Nectar card?"

Continuity announcers who can't resist telling you the plot of the crime programme you are about to watch. AND Programmes that end with a synopsis of the next episode. Add the two together and you don't need to watch the programme at all!

All I can suggest is doing a bit of research and I'll let you draw your own conclusions. Look into what was offered in the 14th Onshore Oil and Gas Licensing Round then look at this: http://www.parliament.uk/business/committees/committees-a-z/lords-select/economic-affairs-committee/news/report-publication/.

This risks getting political, which is against the house rules. So I won't rant about it (though I could.) But if you wants to find out why I am so annoyed about it up here on the beautiful Northumberland coast, please feel free to PM me.

Problem is, once the fat cats are squeezed through the doors, there won't be room for anything else.

Not just crime programmes, wildlife ones too. I have actually been unsure as the whether I have seen some programmes or just a lot of such extracts.

That's OK with all the politicians in Room 101 they won't need any room. Which reminds me.
What do you call a 100 seater bus with 99 politicians going off a cliff? A waste......... of a seat.
