This was predictable

This was predictable....less than a week after I buy an E-M1, rumors of a new OM-D camera.

Re: This was predictable

May be it will happen but judging by the latest lenses it could be another year or two before it gets close to release for sale!

Manufacturers always have new products in the pipeline. Quite why it comes as a surprise beats me!

Re: This was predictable

Relax Marty Oly have not announced it so that makes it at least 6 months away. When they do announce it it will be another year before it is scheduled to appear in the shops. Then there will be a delay of least 3 months. If you are sensible you will leave it 3 months for others to iron out the faults so realistically you don't need it or can have it for least 2 years so go an enjoy your EM1.

Oh I am enjoying the E-M1. Such a step up from my old E-620

The time to worry is when Olympus dosen't have a new camera in the pipeline.

Re: This was predictable

In other news:

Olympus have not announced anything however, rumours abound that at some point they will announce a new O-MD camera and/or lenses, experts say that this is inevitable.

Start saving now!

Re: This was predictable

That sort of thing is usually my trick. Good news though, this time I bought an M10 rather than the M1 in May and absolutely love it!

That said as a birder I'll be really tempted if the new model has fast Phase detection focusing comparable to DSLRs.

Re: This was predictable

I seem to remember a thread in here from a week or so ago regarding an interview with Toshio Terada in which he was said to remark that the future release frequency of Olympus (OM-D)s would decrease.

Re: This was predictable

I suppose the fact that Olympus is actually a small camera manufacturer is perhaps a reason for the extended period between official announcements and actual supply. I'm not sure how this compares with other, larger companies, but the latest Canon offering was announced on Sept 15th and Stated shipping in the UK on October 29th, I got mine on the 30th and I haven't heard of anyone who has had to wait much longer than that. Unfortunately this causes much frustration, especially as OMD users have been waiting ages for a m4/3 super telephoto prime and still no idea of shipping date or price.

Re: This was predictable

It's probably safe to buy an E-M1 now. Early adopters have had time to find any issues and there's been enough firmware updates to get the bugs out.

It seems a pretty vague scoop to be honest, maybe something to keep the site ticking along.
