Hoverfly

Out in the garden this beautiful autumnal morning and had a lot of fun with the hoverflies.

Loved this one who was having a ball covering itself with pollen.

Missed the focus on the head with this one, but love those eyes anyway!

And this one is interesting - not for those naughty aphids on my roses, but I think in the trhc there are a couple of parasitic wasps. I hope that is what they are. Yum Yum.

Re: Hoverfly

One of the nicer looking flies Lyn. Must get a few macro shots myself soon, they are facinating.

A great little lens Phill - and yes, I love getting in really close with it. Neil says a bee will get my nose one day, but they always seem more intent on what they are doing than worrying about me.

I had a quick play with your two Hovers Lyn, they are in fact well focused with good detail but needed about +1 to +1.5 exposure adjustment to bring it out as they were quite badly under-exposed.

Something to try next time maybe?

Oh Duh! Brian - I had been photographing white roses and hadn't altered the exposure compensation! . Will definitely do what you say - Ta.
The other thing was that because it was a really bright sunny morning I decided not to bother with the flash and diffuser which is how I usually shoot bees etc.
and should have done so this time.
