I'm getting a very similar message, but I don't get time to read it as it flashes on the screen then disappears almost immediately. The picture then loads to the gallery as normal.

Re: Uploading/posting photos.

I have not fully tested my theory, but I think the problem may be related to file name length/format as it didn't like one with spaces but was ok with underscore character

Yes, it does flash by quickly. I had to be quick to catch it.
(Together with pressing the back button several times.)

I get the message also but did manage to get photographs to gallery and then into thread for the Christmas Tree competition. The photographs did show up with strange titles when taken from my pics to upload

I originally tried to load 5 images to a new album I had created, I got the 'invalid file type' message - I then tried to attach then to the post and got the same message. I tried changing the file format and the image size several times all with the same error message. Hope this helps. Paul

Yep that's it Paul, no matter how I try to attach an image to a post it just will not work ..... "invalid file type" error every time. Change the image, file size, format, whatever, makes no difference.

As I am not the only person now reporting this I get some comfort albeit "cold" from knowing it's not me, but my forehead is getting no comfort from that bloody wall

Regards Simon

Re: Uploading/posting photos.

Morning all - my apologies - I am half way through updating the our media embedding plug-in; which is why some embedded content (like Flickr) doesn't work properly at the moment. Fingers crossed thos will be fixed today.

Re: Uploading/posting photos.

I have to uninstall the old plug-in; and before that I need to revert all embedded links to plain urls. Once the new plug-in is installed I will then re-scan and convert all the urls.

In other words, there will be some wierdness for a while - please don't panic.

I'll post progress reports here

Ian

PS What went wrong yesterday was installing new embedded media definitions for the wrong (installed) version of the plug-in.

Re: Uploading/posting photos.

Sadly, I don't think Flickr works - seems like other users of the plug-in report the same.

Re: Uploading/posting photos.

Just as an aside, I haven't been able to upload photographs to my gallery for a couple of weeks now, because of an 'Internal Server Error'. I thought that it was related to the general problems that people were encountering in adding pictures to forum posts. But, as I still can't upload any pictures, maybe not.
This is the message that gets displayed:

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@e-group.uk.net and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache/2.2.23 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.23 OpenSSL/1.0.0-fips mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 PHP/5.2.17 Server at e-group.uk.net Port 80

I know that my photographs are a bit ropey but well, I mean...

Thanks.

Hi Lee, did you not get the recent newsletter via email about the Internal Server Error issue? I will need your broadband IP address (use the internet search terms 'what is my IP address' for sites that can tell you the address) in order to fix this. If you are no longer using the email address you registered with please let me know so I can update your account. Also, please check that any emails from e-group.uk.net are not trapped by spam filters.

Same goes to anybody else, please

Ian
