Re: NOW CONFIRMED - 5th Sept: South Wales meet - details inside

Hi All

Well, what an absolutely fabulous day that turned out to be, an awesome day, I really enjoyed myself and hope you all did too. My sincere thanks to everyone who came along to the meet, and especially to those who travelled from the ends of the earth to get here; your attendance was really appreciated and it was a privilege to meet you all.

I am off out for the day again now for Heathers first girls rugby tournament - up in mid Wales (eeek!), but will process and post some more images later this evening.

In the meantime... here's the gang who descended upon South Wales én masse yesterday...

It would be nice again if you could put some names to the faces

Re: NOW CONFIRMED - 5th Sept: South Wales meet - details inside

It was nice to meet up and put some names to faces and at the same time visit places that I've missed out on despite them being right on my doorstep. Thanks to John, Andy and all those who helped with organising the day, I enjoyed myself and I think everyone else did too.

Not going to embarrass myself attempting to put names to all them faces, I'm useless at names so will leave it to those with far sharper memories...

Yes thanks to everyone who had a hand in organizing the meet, and thanks to Ian for letting me try out some of those expensive lenses

Now I just have to figure out how to post images to the gallery

Here's my first contribution - a shot of my daughter, Elizabeth, at Usk Castle. This is a three shot HDR using Photoshop CS4 Merge to HDR. The exif data is discarded, but I used the Pen E-P1 for this - no tripod!

Ian at Raglan Castle (using fisheye lens and off-camera flash)

In the pub had a go with the E-P1 using the strong contrasty b&w art filter and was really quite pleased with the result. Its on someone else's memory card, but I also took this with my E-3 and tried to reproduce the effect in LR

Thanks to John (and Andy!) for organising a great day out on Saturday. Also well done to those who travelled a lot further than I did!

I have never been to Usk or Raglan before - despite them being on my doorstep (comparatively!). I will certainly return another day.

I'm pushed for time this week but will sort out and post a few modest offerings when I can.

Wow! Imagine being there at the same time as Led Zep - that really would have been a photo opportunity!

John and Andy, try and do better next time - we want a top rock band as well as a fantastic location!

Trouble is, most of my rock "heroes" are now either retired or dead.....

Sorry John, I'll try to do better next time!

So, who are your rock heroes then...?

Mine =

Yes, Genesis, Floyd, Oldfield, ELP, ELO

Awesome era, gotta love Prog Rock. Having said that, there's a few modern belters of prog rock out there now.
