Alto Rhapsody

A Camera Club Landscape assignment at Mt Buffalo National Park, just over 60 miles from Wang.

It was time to deploy the SWD 12-60mm with adaptor, which served me well throughout the shoot.

A touch of human interest provided by a young group of abseilers who I watched in awe as they descended the cliffs like spidergirls!

The Horn, a pyramid formation of rock close to the summit at an elevation of 1,723 metres

From a precarious perch I stood in wonder watching cloud shadows drifting up the valley.

BTW, Here's a comparison between the M1 Mkii vs. M5 Mkii, the latter shot by my daughter, Athena. Obviously not quite from the same spot, and there was a significant light shift between the two takes.

Re: Alto Rhapsody

I agree with Andrew they are a nice set of images but for my favourite the first just edges it. I like the way you included some really close foreground that emphasises the depth in the image. Looks like it must have been quite a trek to get up to that viewpoint.

Thanks Phill. And yes, quite a trek had I not driven the 15kms to the summit!

Re: Alto Rhapsody

Thank you Ron. It is truly a picturesque location, I'm looking forward to another visit come Spring when there will be lots of wildflowers to photograph.

Re: Alto Rhapsody

A nice set of pictures .. unsurprisingly I like the ones with rocks in them (mmmm... melty rocks!)

I would have liked just a little more sky on the bottom 2 pictures so as not to crop off the tops of the hills. but very nice

I gave up "forward abseiling" when I got out of the scouts and had my own kit. it's a lot more comfortable to do it the right way.

Regards
Andy

Hi Andy, I cropped out what togs downunder refer to as, "the white sky of death". In this instance the cloud bank sitting above the horizon was a blinding bright highlight that could add nothing to the grandeur of the valleys and mountains spread out before me.
It was the first time I have witnessed "forward abseiling", it does look uncomfortable.

It's time you paid us another visit, Mark, and this time further south where the real scenery is! ! !

Re: Alto Rhapsody

Thanks Larry. Interesting to note that the 1st shot (above) was taken with the M5 Mkii, the rest with the M1 Mkii;
all with the 12-60mm F2.8 SWD + adaptor that you had previously recommended for excellent results on the OMDs.

Nice set of scapes. I have my own special, sweary scientific term for the white sky of death.
