Re: Macro Shots with Tamron 135mm f/2.5 + Sigma Macro Lens

Barrie,

100% better than my first shots with the lens. Thanks for posting them. You have probably chosen wisely to start with the Tamron Prime Lens. Far less variables to worry about than with a telephoto lens.

The first two have lovely colour and are sharp for most of the subjects. try stopping down a bit more on these to increase the dof. It does not need much. The oof background areas are superb.
The bee is well captured and mostly sharp in images 3 & 4. No4 is a little washed out. Try increasing the dark level slightly and apply a little more contrast.

Try to resist getting as close as posible to the subject. The dof varies with distance. Do not be afraid to increase the ISO to allow for a decrease in aperture size. I have used the camera flash at times to provide better illumination. A thin tissue over the flash lens can be effective to cut down harsh shadowing. Sorry, I am probably teaching you to suck eggs

Peter

Barrie, the first one is simple in compostion, the colors and lighting are great, and the background is nice and soft. I really like it.
