While walking around in the sun(?) yesterday I spotted this on a hand rail looking over the lake.I usually like to nab these with a macro but only had the telephoto on.

Re: Dragon

That looks pretty good Keith for 400mm @ f/5.6
I was under the impression (perhaps mistakenly) that the 135-400 didn't perform that well at maximum zoom wide open?

Re: Dragon

Thanks everyone....

Yes I have had some horrors with this lens...but every now and then it has a good day.....lol
I think if the subject is not too far away it will cope.......I only used these settings because I was on AP set at 5.6 so it would hopefully give me a high speed to nab a Kingfisher that I was waiting for.
I know possibly F 7-8 would be best and from about 300-350mm but as I say every now and then it surprises me.
I was balanced on the top of a cropped Hawthorn hedge (ouch) and had to back up a bit to get it in focus and got 2 shots before it flew off.

Thanks
keith
