Brown Lacewing

This looks rather like images of Hemerobius humulinus. It was of about fingernail size.

It flew past me and landed on a dead tree at a little distance above my head height. I had to fetch my camera and adjust the setting in a hurry. So I think there is a blend of flash and sunlight, rather than the intended full flash.

I got one reasonable shot from each side before it flew away.

Olympus EM-1 (manual mode), Olympus 4/3 x2 TC, Olympus 4/3 50mm f2 macro, 1/205 and 1/200 sec at f, ISO 400, single flash hand-held.

Harold

Thanks guys for your encouragement and words of support and good wishes. Hi Peter, the brain scans did not show any bleed, clot or anything untoward. That was welcomed news. The shingles has taken an eye out, closing it up and spread to one side of the head and trunk. They have me on IV antivirals and good old Calomine. The hospital is keeping me for some more tests. The pain is ghastly. Eye specialist says no corneal ulcers so far. I shall take great pleasure in reading the forum now and again and visiting the photos.

Re: Communal Dragonfly, Butterfly and Insect photo thread

Cranefly on Double Glazed Window

This large cranefly was on a (rather dirty) window all day and was motionless. I have cleaned up, digitally, the worst of the dirt.

I think this is a Nephrotoma species but the abdomen is obscured. so I don't know which species.

Olympus EM-1 (aperture priority), Olympus 4/3 x2 TC, Olympus 4/3 50mm f2 macro, f10 and f11, hand-held.

The stereo is crosseye.

The position of the second reflection in the side view is interesting.

Harold

Thanks. For those who can make it work, the 3D works best on the reflection.
