Cameraworld selling non-original lenses?

I bought a 40-150mm from Cameraworld in January this year. Yesterday I was recommended to register all my equipment with Olympus UK. Camera and my 14-42 was OK, but when I tried to register my 40-150 I got "invalid serial number" Is this a fake lens?

I dont have an answer for you., but I have not heard about fake Olympus lenses. Which version is it? Can you post a picture of the lens (without the serial number).

I suggest giving Olympus a call on monday. They should be able to help.

It's probably a grey import, in other words it wasn't supplied by Olympus UK and therefore isn't guaranteed by them.

Re: Cameraworld selling non-original lenses?

The lens is identical to all other 40-150's. So it might be a gray import, yes. Maybe I'll ring Olympus on monday. Will probably sell the lens soon anyway (To be replaced with a 50-200...if the house boss agrees)

Re: Cameraworld selling non-original lenses?

Was the lens new or secondhand from Cameraworld? If it was new and appears to be a grey import I'd take it up with Cameraworld.

It was new. I have sent a mail to Cameraworld asking about this. Hoping for a reply very soon.
