That Castle...

When you visit a place that has been photographed so much, trying to come up with another way of shooting it, can be a challenge in itself...

Re: That Castle...

Graham,

Nice one! You even have a path leading to the castle rather than the conventional barrier of the lake.

Re: That Castle...

You have done OK I think. Shame about the branch in the middle. Sometimes its good to see what others have done.

Re: That Castle...

I've seen it from afar, but not visited it. It's a bit disappointing that it's mainly an early 20th Century rebuild.

Re: That Castle...

It looks to be a nice alternative view of "That Castle", but for someone 'downunder' trying to find out more about "That Castle" Google has nothing. (yeah, I know it's not called that)
Could you please enlighten me which & where this castle is?

Ross,
The castle is called Eilean Donan, and stands on a small island in Loch Duish - near Kyle of Lochalsh on the 'Road to Skye'

Her's a link to the Wikipedia entry: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eilean_Donan

Thanks. Yes, I've seen the typical views of it before & known of the name now you have enlightened me to the cryptic thread title. I've also heard some things about it from a McKenzie friend too.

Re: That Castle...

You have framed the castle very well and nicely avoided the grotty shoreline.

I thought about breaking it off, but 6 months of “porridge” would likely have resulted...

Re: That Castle...

When Anne and I visited in 2012 the rain was not our friend. We didn't venture inside but got quite wet photographing either side of the castle.

Pleased to see the angle you took - I like it.

Re: That Castle...

Yes a very different viewpoint, I like it too. Seen lots of views of the castle but never visited. Must make an effort one day, out of midge season though.
