WOW - some good news I really needed...

First home rugby game for Heather last weekend, and as usual I was there and after speaking with all the parents, found myself shooting the game from all angles. I informed the opposition parents and team manager where they could find the processed images and thought that this would be the end of it.

I managed 100 or so 'keepers' and duly posted them on my gallery later on Sunday afternoon and within only a few hours of the game.

Well would you Adam and Eve it... today I received a telephone call from the team manager who said she thought the images were excellent, and could she place an order and have the full set...! i.e. ALL the images...!

She wants 92 images on 7"x5", and will show these to all the other parents who don't have internet, and anticipates that all the parents will purchase at least one 10"x8", with suggestions of many more too. She said she is happy to co-ordinate the order, so that once she has spoken to all the parents, she can provide one single order for the entire set - wow eh!

On top of this, she also booked me for her kids party in October - for a tidy booking fee plus additional prints.

I honestly don't mean to gloat, but this is just the news I needed to be honest, and thought I'd share.

John,

I really do hope this goes well for you. If you can get the money up front (or at least a deposit)

I did a similar thing for a Roller Hockey Team. All the parents said they wanted the prints, got the prints, BUT I only got 60% of the money...

The real money maker seems to be to have a printer at the event and sell them on the day.

Again best of luck

Fantastic news, John and I'm really pleased for you.

It shows there's a market for these type of pictures. Maybe you should offer your services to other local sports clubs, theatrical and dance groups, marching bands, fundraisers, and any other community organisations that stage public events?

Keep us informed how it goes!

Cheers,

Re: WOW - some good news I really needed...

Thanks for the comments everyone, I do appreciate them.

@Graham: I'd love to have a decent 'on location' printer to use for these events. The only ones within price range though are those that print smaller sizes, and I feel I'd need to be able to print up to at least 10" x 8" in order to make it worthwhile and for parents to then purchase on the spot. It's a superb idea though, and one I am sure would be lucrative.

Re: WOW - some good news I really needed...

A nice set of photos you have there

I did a similar thing last year with my sons football team, I ended up, uploading the jpegs to the kodak online print site so the parents could order their own, I think printing on site is by far the best solution, a fickle bunch are parents!

Luck sod - you go to a rugby match and then clean up on the photoshoot. It just doesn't get any better than that.
