You guys are so lucky. We may be nearer to the point of manufacture, we have no news on when we will receive ours. As for Freebies..na..nothing.

Re: Message from Olympus UK re E-M1 supply issues

Ordered mine on the 16th september after a few emails to press office and a little pressure from Chris and myself we are now in the position of having the M1 Chris is in Paris but I believe his was due to arrive today.
Mine was sent from Belgium yesterday at 18.30 by dhl express and arrived today in Ireland this afternoon at 17.00 along with free goodies HLD7 Battery pack and Four Thirds Adapter as I registered in september,
First thoughts it looks very small I was expecting something bigger, in a way it seems smaller than the m5, time to charge the batteries and play

Regarding the size, it's more like my OM-1 than anything I've owned since.

Pressure like this may work so that you get your camera earlier. I ordered the exact same items from the Olympus online shop on the 14th and I have been in touch with the Finnish language representative. For a long time, they predicted an October delivery, but last Monday, I received a phone call and was told that my order had been bumped until November 8th.

It's quite possible that by managing to get your cameras delivered earlier, you are just pushing other customers further into the queue. I don't think our disgruntlement has resulted in any extra deliveries from Olympus in Asia.

In any case, it's just a camera and the only problem the delays will have caused me is that by the time I get the E-M1, the trees will no longer have leaves and it will be the darkest time of the year here in Finland. Photo opportunities to try the new camera will be much slimmer than they would have been in early to mid October.

Re: Message from Olympus UK re E-M1 supply issues

The way I see it photo opportunities are always there whether its night or day, inside or outside you just need to open your mind and let the creative juices flow.

I agree with you the waiting time is unacceptable but completely out of the buyers control.

Re: Message from Olympus UK re E-M1 supply issues

I've just heard from Olympus that the deadline for qualification for the free grip and adapter (if already registered for them) has been extended. You now have until 30th November to buy the camera and until 18th December to submit your claim.

Re: Message from Olympus UK re E-M1 supply issues

Does that mean they expect the 12-40 kits to be even later than originally anticipated...I think I would like it if Olympus could give a forecast or response to say the 12-40 kits are currently on target for deliveries xx/xx/xx.

I shouldn't think that you can read that into what has been said. I would say they are simply recognising the supply issues so far and are trying to maximise E-M1 uptake.

I can't see that happening frankly. It's commercial information that (as Olympus) I wouldn't want in the public domain.

Re: Message from Olympus UK re E-M1 supply issues

Ultimately the E-M1 is overpriced. But not with the freebies, they should have just included them with the purchase as standard imo.

I'd love some confirmation that my letter arrived in Germany.

Yes me too, I posted mine on 7th October and had no response so far. If I don't get any indication that things are progressing by mid November I may post the receipt/voucher copies again.

If the E-M1 is over-priced, why is it selling so well?

There is no change in the expected arrival time for the 12-40 kits of the first half of November. So if there is no change, there is no news.
