Travel insurance including photo gear

I've given up on the South Wales weather and am flying off to Madeira for a week to try and take some pictures.

I'm looking for appropriate travel insurance that covers Me, The wife, The cameras and any daft activities that we might want to get up to on a whim (adventures like walking, Lava tubing and diving before you snigger)

I am sick after about an hour of reading small print on exclusions about this that or the other.

Cost is not really a worry as it's only a week I just want as much cover as I can get at a not ridiculous price

Any Ideas ?

Regards
Andy

Re: Travel insurance including photo gear

Hi Andy

I use http://www.divinginsuranceuk.com/ for my holiday (including diving) and dive equipment insurance. They will insure camera equipment separatly if required.

I've not had to claim from them but have heard good reports.

I'm not associated with them in any way except as a customer.

Roy

Re: Travel insurance including photo gear

Andy, not much help with this trip, but NFU Mutual is worth a thought for your houshold insurance next year as they will cover your photo gear out of the country. They also do an optional extension of travel insurance for everyone at the same address.

Have a good time in Madeira, it's a wonderful island, especially if you enjoy walking. If you've a head for heights you must try a few of the levadas. They take you through some spectacular scenery without a huge amount of ascent. Just like walking along a canal towpath really, but the canal's only a foot or two wide. Then again so's the towpath and there can be an unguarded drop of a few hundred feet. The Sunflower guide is pretty good.

Don't forget to show us some of your photos, just to make me nostalgic. I only took a little Nikon 4600 last time.

I agree. Give your house insurance Co. a call and ask if they cover all that you want cover for. They want to keep your business which is a much bigger premium than a one week holiday cover policy, so will often be better.

I also have used the Post Office insurance which is simple and good value.

Have a great Holiday, look forward to seeing your best shots
