No images

Recently I broke the usb port on my 520 but have just been putting the flash card in my 500 and transferring from there...takes ages but at least I am getting my images onto the computer.
BUT today I did this and Master 2 came up and I said transfer from camera and no images appeared.
Looked to see them on the back of the 500 and it said No Images...any ideas please. They still show on the 520.

Re: No images

You could always purchase a card reader to see if that works Keith. They are very cheap these days. I don't know what is going wrong. It might be a formatting issue with the card but if it has worked in the past with the 500 I don't know why it doesn't now.

Re: No images

Thanks Ron.....I HAD been looking at this method but as I was still managing to do it through the E500 I was not in any great rush to do it.
I think I would like to see/try one before buying rather than getting one on line and work stops me doing that at the moment.

Re: No images

That's fair enough Keith. It's always best to try one for yourself before buying. For what it is worth we bought a Hama USB 2 card reader for work from 7dayshop. It cost less than 7 and seems to work perfectly with the CF card for my camera. I never feel entirely happy using the little USB port on the Olympus, as I always expect the rubber flap to break off or the contacts to get bent.

Ron you know just how to winkle things out of me - My son found me out an old reader - looks like Sun Vision and the gap the card goes in is to me too large and the pins do get bent.
Thats why I want to try before I buy.

Sorry to hear of the damage to the connector as that happened to my E520 too & that was my excuse to get the E30 at the time. I still use the E520 (occasionally) with a card reader & the first one I got (from our local computer shop) was the Temium brand but the CF card slot was shallow & prone to misalligning the card on insertion with the danger of bending the pins, but my local Post Ofice shop had the Transcend one for $20 which has a deeper more reliable CF card slot & works well. I use it for all my photo downloads now & that removes the danger of tripping over the lead to the camera with obvious risks to the camera. It's faster too.

When using Olympus Viewer 2 (or Master) with the card reader you can still select "From Camera" download because it recognises the format on the card as a camera, otherwise, in the case with the your card, go to "From Specified Location" & open up the folders on the card & that should allow you to get them if the other doesn't work.

BTW, I recommend using Olympus Viewer 2 instead of Olympus Master (it can still be kept on the computer too for the time line function) as it has more capabilities & combines the RAW & JPEG editing on the one screen with a tab selection for either editing functions & saves (as JPEG or TIFF if you prefer) all in one go.

Re: No images

Thanks Ross.....SWMBO is taking me to the city centre on Saturday "xmas shopping" so I will have to drag myself to the few camera shops or maybe somewhere that does all the electric gizmo's.
On the subject of camera shops you would think a place the size of Birmingham would have a bit more to offer.

Looked to see them on the back of the 500 and it said No Images...any ideas please. They still show on the 520

Any takers on the above query?

Re: No images

Does another card work in the 500?
If not could be damaged pins in the 500 if a CF card or the tabs coould have slackened if an SD type card.

Re: No images

Keith

You will probably not have to drag around too much, PC World, Currys, Maplins, Argos and quite often Tescos sell card readers that work off a usb connection (the same as the cable uses), provided they say CF (or Compact Flash) they'll work OK. The more expensive ones may be faster - but even the cheapest ones will match/exceed the transfer speed you have by the cable.

It's old tech, if they try to sell you one for much more than 15 they are rooking you.

That would be XD card if it isn't the CF card.

Goodonya Keith. Now downloading photos will (should) be painless. Have fun discovering the 72 in 1 uses.
