Professional Photography Bodies & Qualifications

I was reading some older posts and came across John's (theMusicMan) post regarding if anyone here a member of the BFP - Bureau of Freelance Photographers.

This has got me thinking

I looked around the web and have found heaps of 'organisations' for photographers to become part of:

Bureau of Freelance Photographers
The Institute of Professional Photography
The Photography Institute
British Institute of Professional Photography
The Royal Photographic Society
Master Photographers Association
British Association of Picture Libraries and Agencies
Editorial Photographers UK & Ireland
The Association of Photographers
The Guild of Wedding Photographers UK
The Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers & The British Professional Photographers Associates

These were just a few, plus some offer 'Diplomas' etc.

Well my question is, which organisations are the ones worth affiliating with?? I want to progress my photography further and as part of this I am considering gaining a qualification along with affiliation to a professional body. Mainly form a business point of view, giving a level of professionalism to potential clients.

Any comments and or suggestions, gratefully received.

Re: Professional Photography Bodies & Qualifications

After the Royal Photographic Society, may I suggest you look through the PAGB web site

http://www.pagb-photography-uk.co.uk/

There are links to a lot of other bodies as well.

Good luck

Graham
