Re: Socks

The secret is to buy several packs of multiple pair packs. If you have 20 identical pairs you never have more than one odd sock.

Re: Socks

You can probably guess from my forum name that I've been involved in greyhound racing over the years. Some of the folk in it (not all) can be quite hard and this true story illustrates the point. I told a greyhound trainer that one of our acquaintances had had to have a leg amputated as a result of circulation problems caused by diabetes. "Brilliant!" he said. "I've got a drawer full of odd socks I can give him."

Re: Socks

Strange that you should ask...a day or so again it appeared on the news that a Great Labrador door was operated on and they found "many" socks in his/her stomach...........true story!!

There's nothing new under the sun! My wife's grandfather sold single shoes round South Wales after WWI.

Re: Socks

It seems I have stumbled across a universal problem here. I had a minor upturn in my sock loss on Saturday when three of my odd socks become pairs again when the laundry system coughed up their mates

I still don't understand where they disappear to. Especially when they can magically appear again

The suggestion that I should take up the modern trend if wearing odd socks is a sound one. Perhaps this is why that started. Certainly my sprogs all wear odd socks routinely.

In the meantime I shall consider an offering to the sock fairy in the hope that she releases more lonely socks from captivity

Hec

I never thought of that! I'll have to quiz my wife!

Re: Socks

The answer is to only buy plain socks of the same colour, that way as long as you can find two you will always have a matching pair.

Nice theory John, but it doesn't work. Even supposedly identical socks from the same batch fade in the wash at different rates and become impossible to pair up. Trust me, being professionally lazy I have tried this!

Re: Socks

We do have a Labrador and a Labradoodle but to the best of my knowledge they are not the culprits despite being obvious suspects.

My suspicions are firmly focused on Sock Rights activists who break open your washing machine and release socks into the wild. This of course is a misguided action which leaves the remaining socks in a state of anxiety and abject loneliness.

It also leaves the sock owner hopping mad!
