Re: Anti Virus Software

I am another user of AVG free, because I am tight, no really it works for me auto updates scans every day takes out all of those nasty bits, I have also done “on line” scans via some of the more expensive software, no problems so far and no expense.

Re: Anti Virus Software

Have you ever tried removing it (norton), then doing a search to see how much is left. I would only recommend if you like it running your computer. Horses for courses

Re: Anti Virus Software

I've used Kaspersky for a few years now and find it a very good package.
Currently using Kaspersky Internet Security 2010, a genuine three user licence CD can be bought on ebay for around £20-25.

Re: Anti Virus Software

Well my vote goes to MacAfee ( 3 pc user ) . It costs approx £50 per year - The only issue I had was about two years ago on an older home pc,and I have to say MacAfee bent over backwards to resolve the problem - It took them about 2 hours online to my machine but fix it they did.

We also use MacAfee enterprise in work for over 150 computers and we haven't had any real problems ( so our IT guy tells me ).

Re: Anti Virus Software

Check that your ISP doesn't offer you free or discounted software. I'm with BT and get McAfee internet security centre for 7 pcs free as part of the package. I note that McAfee for 3 PCs (2010 version) is only £17 on Amazon.

In the past I have had no problem with AVG.

Hope this helps

Re: Anti Virus Software

Just seen this thread so thought I would add my 2 cents worth..

Just installed Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 on my PC, cost me £7.99 for 3 user licences from the high street bargain bookshop 'The Works':

http://www.theworks.co.uk/product.asp?cid=&pid=4335

Kaspersky usually do well in the protection ratings, so think this is a bit of a bargain. Although it's the 2009 version once installed you can go online and update to the latest database version for full protection.

Re: Anti Virus Software

If you do on line banking with Barclays, kasperski is free with full support and free renewal after expiry! Works better and less intrusive than Norton and wipes the floor with Virgin media's own effort!

Re: Anti Virus Software

I have put AVG free on quite a few computers and (touch wood) not have had to go back to sort any virus problems over the last few years had an occasional hiccup and reinstalled it but otherwise it has been great and free

Norton is fine now, much faster. I buy the new version each year as it is much cheaper than renewing. Norton Internet Security 2010 (for three computers) cost me £22.97 inc. VAT from Amazon.

I have, somewhere, a program for removing Norton leftovers from computers and will post the link when I find it. It can also be found by googling Norton removal tool.
