As far as the Satin Bowerbird goes, we have them around here a fair bit, with a bower in the neighbour's place, but I haven't been able to get a good shot of the male yet (only rubbish shots). You can see a few images of them in my Birds album. I need to upload some of my older bird photos into it too, since i've only recently started to use it. I'll probably have to pay the subscription fee if I keep filling it up too.

Some really good photos of the Bower bird in your bird album Ross...

Haha Mark, you would have to catch me first. we have supported the Oz economy quite well in the last fortnight...

Nice one of the King Parrots. They don't hold back in coming forward if they've been fed by people. You've got the blue in eye of the Satin Bowerbird nicely this time.

This last one is of Eastern Rosellas. They occasionally come inland to the lower Blue Mountains but we mostly see the Crimson Rosella hear.

Sydney had 150mm rain in several hours. Kangaroo Valley had plenty of it too, 12 hours worth....

Unsure of my ID of this bird. It sung a really beautiful song, which (believe it or not) I was able to whistle back to it. It came down the tree to see what idiot was trying to copy him....very plain bird, but a true singer.

When Ross is back he will do an ID for me.....TIA...

On the contrary, he's showing it how it is.

I love a sunburnt country,
A land of sweeping plains
Of ragged mountain ranges
Of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons
I love her jewel-sea,
Her beauty and her terror
The wide brown land for me!

My Country - Dorothea Mackellar 1908

A good description. The Banksia Integrifolia (Coastal banksia) is unfortunately susceptible to gall wasp infestation. We planted four here with that occurring to them. I wonder about the species, sub-species or variants we ended up with because two are a low & twisted habit & the other two tall & straight. One of the tall ones fell over & so got cut up but the other three are still growing (for nearly three decades).
