Re: 12-40mm Lens Cap

It seems to be quite a common problem. See this thread:

Superglue - possibly - or that stuff plumbers use to chemically weld piastic pipes.
On the basis it's a common failure, what about Olympus sending you a new one in the post, FOC?

Re: 12-40mm Lens Cap

I put all my Olympus lens caps in the box as soon as I got them.
Given I'm confident I'll lose them so I replace them with cheap eBay ones - which come with a tether so I can hang them off a little carabina on the strap.
For example but not a specific recommendation...

Re: 12-40mm Lens Cap

I think that the spring loaded caps with the clips in front are more likely to fall apart than the side-clip ones. My Olympus 14-150mm II, all 3 Panasonic lenses and the Sigma 30mm have similar caps. Can it be that we tend to start the pulling-out motion before the clips are fully released? Over time, that could loosen the glued areas enabling the lens cap to fall apart.

Re: 12-40mm Lens Cap

Is this problem specific to the 12-40mm lens cap or any Olympus lens with such a cap?
