Layers In Capture One 8 Pro

I thought I'd do this for Ross and any other CO8 Pro users that might be interested and need to get their head round it.

I will use a bog standard Raw image to demonstrate, this is it just cropped and nothing else.

And this is the finished image in CO8

1-Click on the brush tool on the top bar to bring up the local adjustments panel.
2-Click on the plus sign to create a layer and rename it dog.
3-Click on the brush in the panel and paint over the dog, if you make a mistake click on the brush and select erase brush to undo.

Here I made some adjustments to clarity and structure to bring out the detail in the dogs fur with out effecting the background.

4-Now create another layer, right click on it and select copy mask from dog layer.

4-Right click on layer again and select invert mask this will select the background and make you a ready to use mask, no having to painstakingly reselect the background like in Lightroom.

On this I reduced exposure to darken the background and also reduced clarity, structure and increased noise reduction to soften the background a little.

Ok next we come to cloning.

1-Create a new layer name it clone and on the layer click on the adjust button and select Clone.

2-Now paint over the item to be cloned out.

3-Now drag the white circle to a place you want to clone from.

And that's it folks.

Me too.
I've just started fiddling with the selective colour capabilities of the latest version, which look useful especially for landscape, and street with mixed lighting.

Re: Layers In Capture One 8 Pro

Thanks very much Paul. Now I have no more excuses (except to get my tax book work up to date in a hurry).

I shall endeavour to use it & show (better than use it or lose it).
