Bluebell time again!

This is such a great time of the year for woodland and the accompanying flora. The bluebells are not giving us the rich carpet of blue just yet but are well on the way -

Taken with the OM-D E-M1, 9-18mm lens. This is a good combination for me who struggles to carry some of the heavier lenses and I am very pleased with the results I am getting with the lens.

Regards,
Ann1e

Joyous indeed, Anne - I've only ever seen pictures, never the real thing.
Looking forward to seeing more as your spring advances.

Re: Bluebell time again!

That will look lovely when they all come out especially if they create a nice blue carpet as a lead in to the trees.

Well spotted.

Re: Bluebell time again!

My word, everything in the countryside seems to be happening at once at the moment! A wonderful scene, which should get even better during the next few weeks.

Re: Bluebell time again!

John, Micheldever Woods here are showing a few "early 'belles' " but it needs more rain for the Beech Trees to "sprout new branches and more canopy" for the Bluebelles to truly present en masse

Next weekend (after the rain forecast and more sun * ) should see them out for May here - then the Tourist Coaches arrive and people trample them down ...

Re: Bluebell time again!

Thanks all for looking in and commenting.

We were back up there today but, being the weekend, it was a bit like arriving at Piccadilly Circus, so not the best for photography and, in fact, although more blooms were visible, it is still too early for the blue carpet effect. I checked back on previous years and the best is definitely in May, although when that really good blue cover appears, it is not long before the flowers die back. All a matter of timing and hoping that the best does not coincide with a Saturday or Sunday!

Regards,
Ann1e

Re: Bluebell time again!

One of those scenes I really wish I could see in person Ann1e.
I have the same trouble with timing our wild flowers, especially in Western Australia. They flower in isolated groups and you really have to be in the right place at the right time which with our vast distances is no easy feat.
