Zuiko's 52 For 2011

I'm not sure if this is a good idea because I don't deal very well with pressure but on the other hand it might give me an incentive to get out more. So here goes, my 52 for 2011. Wonder how long it will last?

Monday 3rd January Waited nearly an hour for this light, which I was sure had a good chance of breaking through the clouds. Luckily I had the camera set up and ready on a tripod because when the light did come it lasted just seconds. Glad I waited but I got very cold!

Sunday 9th January Got one in right at the beginning of the week, that takes the pressure off! Afraid it's another muddy puddle. Living where I do you're likely to see a lot of these!

The first shot is very well composed and was definitely worth the wait.

Re: Zuiko's 52 For 2011

I too like the tones and composition of the first image.
I like the meandering hedgerow and field edge that follows a line all the way to the trees in the background.
Interesting shot, thanks for sharing John *

How does this 52 work, is it just one image per week?

(Sorry, forgot to add that I like the first one)

Thanks Alistair. Yes, one picture a week, which shouldn't prove too onerous but I can imagine that by week 30 it very well could be. The picture should be taken during the alloted week but not necessarily posted. For instance, if you are away on a two week holiday you might well take a suitable picture in each of those weeks and post them both upon your return.

It's just a bit of fun, really, to encourage participents to get out regularly taking pictures. It's also a bit of a cop-out - the real challenge is to do a 365, but there's no way I could commit to doing one a day for a whole year!

Excellent photo's John the EP1 has done a nice job with you using it.

Hi John,
I hope you don't mind me asking but how much do you find yourself using the EPL-1 in proportion to your 4/3rds bodies? And do you tend to stick with the m4/3rd lenses or 4/3rds + an adapter?
I ask because I must admit to being quite tempted myself (with the EPL-2), especially on brighter walking days when perhaps I don't feel particularly inclined to carry several kilos around with me
Cheers.

Dear John,

Lovely start to your journey. I really like the first one, very clever to get the reflection of the tree in the water, great stuff.

Cheers

Chris

Re: Zuiko's 52 For 2011

It's nice to see fair sky and thawed snow in #2 there, John.

A very good start to what promises to be an interesting project.

Until he died my brother lived in Essex, btw.

Sorry to hear you lost your brother, Mark. Where in Essex did he live? Have you ever visited yourself?

Thanks John. I visited Vernon in Essex once, that was 1990 but have long since forgotten his address, he died 10 years ago. He was an Orthopedic surgeon, had a magnificent home and his hobby was cultivating roses.

I will always rmember the train journey from London that seemed to take ages but he did take us back in his Jag!

Obviously I chose the wrong career path.

Sounds like he was a very talented man. I take it you were not impressed with the English public transport!
