Good pictures are welcome, even if not taken with the Olympus kit.

Re: Vulcan's Last Flight Tour Of The UK

I saw it on Saturday, I was out walking the dog & didn't know about it.
I was sat in a field & looked to my left & there it was, It seemed to creep up.
I didn't have my camera, just the phone but I wouldn't dare put my laughable attempts on here.
I feel honoured to have seen it, may she have a happy retirement

Graham I know its not usually an issue, I don't mind what people use. Got disillusioned with the C-AF on E-M1 and bought a Nikon for my sport and aircraft. Still have and use my E-M1.

Saturday take off from Finningley.

When she showed up there was a Jet Provost T5 Trainer with it, possibly a camera plane.

Re: Vulcan's Last Flight Tour Of The UK

Saturday was somewhat of a disaster. XH558 was over 1/2 hour ahead of schedule as it passed abeam my house, so I was travelling to the nearest waypoint when it passed. I did an emergency stop and grabbed the gear, but this was the best I could do - with the 75-300 at full stretch at that.

However on Sunday, things took a turn for the better at a different location, which you may recognise.

Re: Vulcan's Last Flight Tour Of The UK

It was a murky day in the Lakes on Saturday and this was my best attempt, from the top of Brant Fell, Bowness:

E-M5 with 75-300, full frame; not as sharp as I'd like but it's not a type of photography I do much. I need more practice . She was cruising quite slowly, engines barely ticking over by the sound of it. Here's a better example, at the Yorkshire Air Show at Church Fenton a couple of weekends ago:

E-M5 with 40-150 f/4-5.6. I was happier with this one! The smaller aircraft are from the Gnats Display Team, one of whose number had been killed earlier in the season. This formed part of a moving tribute to him.

Re: Vulcan's Last Flight Tour Of The UK

She was about 5 minutes early yesterday over Llandegfedd Reservoir here in south Wales. Caught a few people on the hop. Only managed to get about 10 seconds of c****y video, which isn't good enough to show here.
Brilliant sight all the same.

Re: Vulcan's Last Flight Tour Of The UK

Just been looking over this thread again for today's posts which are excellent, it's a shame we won't see it flying again. The shots with the other planes give a good idea of how big it is. I would agree with CarolE that it was a privilege to see it and thanks to the crews and support staff who put on the tour last weekend.

There are apparently a few hours of flight time left that could be used up before the end of October. The two recent Farewell Tour may not be 'the last flight'. I suspect if it does take to the air once more it will be on a much smaller scale.
