Many thanks,
Hi Steve.
Yes, it has the 12-32mm pancake zoom, and I bought it s/h from a fellow member here.

This is the case I have:

I can't see a GM5 case advertised, so maybe it's a bit new. The GM1 version does fit very snugly, so I suggest you check the dimensions very carefully before going for one of those.

I use the GM1 quite a bit - it meets my needs by adding the following capabilities to my current E-M1 system:

- pocketable m4/3, only a bit bigger than my previous Sony RX100. I stuff it in the briefcase whenever I'm out and about.
- extremely compact second-body backup for the E-M1.
- looks just like a basic P&S, so very good in places when you want to be under the radar.
- virtually silent electronic shutter for surreptitious use, and in concerts and plays etc.
- wireless use via an iPhone is good for candid use, because most people think you're actually texting rather than taking images.
- decent 12-32mm performance, with particularly rapid SAF focussing: you can run it at the 'medium' continuous drive speed and it will re-focus between each shot. Rear-screen tap focus is good, too.

It's not perfect - I wish it had a tiltable screen; the tiny body isn't easy to hold even for my small-ish hands and with a thin OpTech wrist strap; and the battery life is weak. So, I carry 2 spare batteries, plus I've fitted one of these (expensive, but extremely well made, and they improve the grip a lot): http://www.kleptography.com/rf/#camera_lumixgm1 (I see this also fits the GM5).

Hope that helps.

Re: OMD wrapping case

Oh yes, I fitted one of these to save fiddling round with a conventional lens cap. Looks a bit odd, but it does the job and doesn't seem to vignette. Also available in silver: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JJC-Self-R...-/111299024445

Re: OMD wrapping case

Thanks Mark, that's very helpful of you.
I'm getting the 15mm to go with the camera, so I think it's best I wait until something spectific comes along for the camera/lens combo, although manufacturers normally tailor their products for a specific camera with a kit lens. The lens hood looks great for the 12-32 by the way. Panasonic (don't read their name out loudly on the forum for god's sake) have done a good job with the 15/f1.7, the lens hood comes with a lens cap, so it's quick to go, switch on, cap off and snap away.
Cheers,
Steve.

Re: OMD wrapping case

I have the EM-5, 12-40 and the Olympus wrapping case. It JUST fits. Considering the EM-5 is bigger, I don't think it would be suitable...

Mark, did you go for panasonic original batteries, or 2nd source? The Panasonic originals are fairly expensive, the cheapest I've found are on the 'bay' (link follows) for your interest.

Re: OMD wrapping case

They were actually bought by the camera's previous owner, but I've also got some of this make for my E-M1s:
Ex-Pro High Power Plus+ 7.2V 680mAh Lithium Ion Digital: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics Ex-Pro High Power Plus+ 7.2V 680mAh Lithium Ion Digital: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics

2 year guarantee, and putting this together with the price makes a pretty compelling case in my view.

Re: OMD wrapping case

Thanks Mark, do they charge correctly in the original charger supplied with camera, Olympus, Panasonic respectively?

Edit: I should have read the reviews before bothering you further. There seems to be high regard for the product, and they do charge with the OEM charger.

Re: OMD wrapping case

Both seem fine in the respective camera OEM's chargers.

Hi.
Do you have the grip fitted to your EM-1 or is the case only suitable for use without the grip?
Cheers.
