I think this little camera was not marketed properly and probably ahead of it's time. There is a lot more one could do with apps on the smartphone and I really see it as a quality extension of my smartphone camera capabilities, (Those are quite decent on my Google-Pixel phone, complete with raw image files) but this adds lenses and remote capability to the equation.

Thank you for the comment. I am but a holiday photographer.

Wonder why that tiny thing is not sold/promoted. Where did you get yours?

The Air A01 was really a speculative product designed to piggy-back the burgeoning smartphone market back in 2015. It attached to your phone and you used the phone as the viewfinder.

But smartphone cameras have improved significantly since then and you still have the challenge of lugging the A01 with lens and then having to connect it all up to use.

Unsurprisingly, it has been discontinued.

It's fascinating to the chart the logic behind Micro Four Thirds' history. It was originally aimed at compact camera and smartphone photographers who wanted something better but who didn't feel attracted to the bulk of a DSLR. The historical evidence is that while some of this ambition has come to pass, most MFT photographers, in my view at least, have come from DSLRs in order to down-size. The evolution of MFT camera design has clearly responded to meet that market, perhaps more than the original perceived direction.

I look forward to seeing your posts. I spent 6 weeks touring NZ a couple of years ago and was 'blown away' by the scenery and the huge variety packed into such a small space. Be great to see a 'local's' photos

Re: Hello from Angelica

Welcome to the group Angelica

There is a landscape photographer in Wellington that you may have heard of, Laurie Winter. She uses Olympus gear (E-M1 ii IIRC) and her work is simply stunning. NZ has some of the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen, one day I intend to make a long trip to your beautiful country.

Look forward to seeing some of your photos,

Steve

Wow - she is good!

I'm a novice myself but I really would love to learn how to take pictures like that. I haven't done any traveling with a decent camera yet. I did take up photography a few years ago now, but then my equipment was stolen and I lost interest.

I came back to it because I realized I was enjoying the camera in my phone, but really wanted to do more. Forums like this are great because people talk about how they did it and what kind of equipment they use.

Re: Hello from Angelica

And this is one of the politest photo forums out there, though it can sometimes get a bit rowdy in the Lounge .
