Spotted at Wex: 7-14mm ZD

Hey, just spotted this:

http://www.wexphotographic.com/produ...px?sku=1549165

499 GBP is a super price for that lens. It works very well on the E-M1 (I already have one)

Re: Spotted at Wex: 7-14mm ZD

Seen it, great price BUT IMO even light scratches to the front element of any super wide will induce flare if the sun is in or near the edge of the frame. It would no doubt be a very good buy for someone shooting interiors though, but not for me I'm afraid.

Cheers, Simon

Lens exhibits light scratches to the front element, although these will not affect optical performance in any way.
The description can be very misleading.
It doesn't mention how many or how long the scratches are and that "will not affect optical performance in any way" part can be even described as a blunt lie.

The Zuiko 7-14 is indeed an awesome lens (I had the fortune of owning it back in my 4/3-only days) but it is VERY prone to flare (mostly due to its curved front element) and the scratches will surely not help when the sun or another light source is in the frame.

Even I'd be wary of a scratched 7-14. As for using it for interiors, some of the interiors I've shot for work recently were worse than shooting outdoors. Bathrooms tiled in polished marble and wine cellars with wall lights.

Re: Spotted at Wex: 7-14mm ZD

I sold mine for 700 pounds on ebay, it was like new, so I don't know if there's a point in spending 500 to buy a scratched one.

That said, these are coming up for sale less and less and for 500 pounds its difficult to go wrong. If you do find flare a problem, you can always sell it on. Also could be that the scratches are no issue at all.

Re: Spotted at Wex: 7-14mm ZD

There is a guy in Dublin selling one of these.

Link Here... http://www.adverts.ie/lenses/olympus...e-lens/5601819

With current UK to Euro exchange rate its a steal for a UK buyer.
Im sure he will take even less, think he would have taken €650 on previous add, its been on sale for a while.
You have to register on this site and make offers and agree a sale there before you can PM the seller.

Please Note I have no connection at all with this seller !!

The Dublin sale is cash on collection only. No Paypal, no shipping, not even in Ireland.

I don't see any sign that these are really coming up less and less - Wex have three for sale (including the £499 one), Ffordes the same (one of them new).

Yes, but at what price? £900, £854, £849, £849, £1499

When there were more of these being sold over a year ago, the going price was £680-£750.

Looking at those prices a £499 one looks like a bargain even if its scratched, but depends on what those scratches are really like.

Re: Spotted at Wex: 7-14mm ZD

Luckily I already have one, but if I was looking to buy, I would not want to drop even £500 on some SHG glass with a stratched front element. Others may disagree of course.
With the rumoured Oly m43rds version likely to cost megabucks, I will be keeping mine for the odd times I need its capabilities and put up with the size/weight.

I have one for sale in about as close to mint condition as you're likely to get, boxed etc. I'm asking £550 for it, I'm in Manchester, might even take an offer, PM me if interested.

Re: Spotted at Wex: 7-14mm ZD

This sort of price doesn't help others who may be thinking of selling theirs for rather more than this .
But hey, if you gotta sell it then.................

Re: Spotted at Wex: 7-14mm ZD

Sorry about that – I based the price on what I needed to buy with the money.
I kind of based it on shop prices minus VAT and a dealer's profit margins.
