Well I wore my badge all day and never saw any of you. Maybe we need to make definite meet up points in the future. I love meeting up with folk on this forum. Shame I didn't;t this time.

Sorry about that! From what Mark Thackara has said, we could be doing a meet to introduce the forthcoming MC-20 2x converter, date to be confirmed. I hope you will be able to come along to that.

More group meets are very desirable and suggestions most welcomeIan

Re: Photography Show 2019 - Can we manage to meet up this year

Great to see twelve other members today ; also Hec was on his best behavior ( maybe because he found a product named after him). I am on a train heading to Cheltenham to visit my daughter. No purchases made and I had my wallet.
Amazed at Phil's trouble with his Panasonic 100- 400mm and the replacement lens before he got a refund.
Congratulations to Olympus for sorting a double clean out for him. From what I heard they could have used a magnetic cleaner!
I got in to the Olympus stand first and was one of the lucky ones to get my camera cleaned,it seems my 40-150mm Pro hood is faulty I was advised to send it in for a free repair.

Had a wander over to the Olympics stand, but didn't think too many, on here would be pleased to see me.
No point making anyone feel uncomfortable, know some of my views are not over popular
Saw a small group with the forum name badges on (three men and a woman) but thought better of it.

Great to catch up for the podcast and on the stand, and nice to chat to Mark again. 12-100 ordered from Wex, arriving tomorrow. They'd run out of show stock!

Re: Photography Show 2019 - Can we manage to meet up this year

I succumbed to a new travel tripod and the discounted batteries offered by Wex which made the entire day worth the cost! But great to meet so many group members during the morning. More group meets needed. I think that we thought Derbyshire would be nice for this autumn, hint, hint!

Re: Photography Show 2019 - Can we manage to meet up this year

Two bodies and three lenses cleaned was worth the ticket price, plus a box of 25 sheets of A4 paper for 7.00 and my mate bought a printer, same model as mine and got me a set of cartridges for half price, so well pleased with what I got.
Certainly up for a meet, even in Derbyshire

A delight to meet up with a good few forum members. I was annoyed with myself for arranging something else at 13:00 which meant I had to disappear rather abruptly.

Very impressed with you Ed. Comenable restraint although ironic that this occured when you actually had your wallet with you. Well done on both counts

Less impressed with the implication that my behaviour is anything less than impeccable. Such cruelty directed at such a sensitive soul like wot I am

I showed less restraint and came away with two low end studio flashes from the very busy PixaPro stand. They deserved to be busy and do well with the combination of decent gear and very good show prices.

Had a look at the 1X and confirmed what I had concluded. Too big for my personal needs and not enough improvement to warrant upgrading from my 1.2. I did like the ergonomics though. Hope to see a 1.3 sometime soon and/or a firmware update for 1.2 with perhaps the customisable menus.

Next year I must make more time for both a forum meet and speakers. I spent too much time just wandering. Maybe a two day visit would be better but that necessitates an overnight stay which starts to get too expensive.

Great service, as always, from Olympus. I now have a lovely clean body and two equally shiny lenses. The body feels like new which is probably an indication on how grubby it was. Thanks again Oly.

Good to see those who managed to meet up and look forward to another get together whenever that may be.

cheers

Hec

Tram
sorry to hear you did not join in. I do not know what views you are talking about. I think members on the site are mature enough to debate on line without spurrning people in a face to face meeting.
I am disappointed not to have met you whatever your views.

Also apologies to one member ( grey sweater black hair) who joined us and I did not get speaking to you as I was in a discussion with others when I turned back you were gone.

I am glad I got to handle the X but like Hec I have decided it is not for me whilst I was happy with the size ( I always have the grip on my mkii) it just does not have enough to justify the price difference. Also I use the side hand strap which cannot be fitted to the X. Design slip up? Making a body which cannot be used with an Olympus accessory.

A good day and great to put faces to names but as some of us said not as good as in the past or maybe we are getting used to the stands and avoiding those of no interest?

Food expensive. 12 for cish and fips and a drink! Packed lunch next time?

Missed the discounted battery offer Cinders, how much were they?

I got a long roll filled with tuna, big packet of crisps and a Fanta for 7.79 which I din't think was bad considering where we were. A meal in weatherspoons later for wifey and friends went down well.

I think this is really sad, I would hope other forum members would be pleased to meet you whatever your opinions - I certainly would if only I was able to go to the show. In some ways, maybe this highlights the dangers of spending a disproportionate amount of time in the Lounge, rather than the more photography related areas of the Forum.

Hopefully you will feel more confident meeting up with other members at next year's show. I used to arrange many photography meets and I only wish I was still well enough to do this - meeting face to face is a great way of reinforcing on-line friendships.
