Glen Affric (9 images)

Steve (Stoates) and I agreed we would head out and about next weekend so I wasn't expecting to do much today as the weather forecast was pretty poor. However an early morning call of nature (too much detail??) and a glance out the window encouraged me to grab some gear and head up to Glen Affric.
I was probably 30 minutes late, but still had a great time:

1. Loch Beinn a' Mheadhoin is really low at the moment exposing an ugly scar of a shoreline but the mist helped mask it

2. The Allt na h-Imrich where it passes the remains of the old bridge

3. Some detail from the Allt na h-Imrich

4. Further along the loch

The next two are taken from the same spot with a 180 turn

5. Looking East

6. Looking West

7. There was plenty of fungi, most of which looked past its best but this one looked fresh

8. A 2 shot panorama

9. and finally a boat and a buoy

All shot with the E-5 and 12-60 or 50

Thanks for looking

Re: Glen Affric (9 images)

Iain, looks like a bad call on my part to wait until next weekend - the conditions look like they were great for photography, very much like my last trip to Glen Affric with you.

A really strong set but No 1 stands out for me.

Re: Glen Affric (9 images)

Wonderful set, but #1 is extra special! And I love the way you can see through to the stones at the bottom of the loch in the boat's reflection - it's almost a 3D effect.
These pictures make me want to jump in the car and head north...

Re: Glen Affric (9 images)

And I think your fungus is a tawny grisette. Edible after cooking, but best avoided because it's easily confused with the death cap.

A nice set, the first is the stand out for me also.

Thank you very much Mark

After taking the boat shot the mist had gone, it had warmed up (frost at the side of the road on the drive up ) enough for the midges to put in an appearance, the cloud was thickening to a flat grey and my stomach was rumbling (no preparation) so I called it a day and headed home for some breakfast quite contented.

Every one of these images is absolutely stunning. The boat and the reflection is a fantastic picture. The flat calm water is lovely.
