Get a Grip

I was in Cheddar yesterday and saw this brave chap rock climbing. I was hoping he had a good grip.

He didn't.

Chapeau to him for trying though (more than I'd have ever tried).

Re: Get a Grip

Well spotted, it took me a few seconds to work out the second shot (looks like he was free climbing, if so I hope he landed on his crash mat! )

Re: Get a Grip

Not free climbing (he was on a tethered line). He had a couple of other tries then gave up.

The rope was the there - I was some way away with only a kit 12-50 lens attached. That (plus my shortcomings) are probably the reason the rope isn't visible. Adds to the drama though.

Re: Get a Grip

Hi there Skids!

I can see the rope ok on the first image, it helps to know what you are looking for. The climber is lead climbing, so the rope is all below him. Hopefully he is on a bolted route or he will have some fun getting his climbing gear out after a big fall like that. I don't know if I could make the climb, but I'm guessing that my 8 year old probably could, along with most of his climbing club! I haven't taken him climbing outdoors yet, just to indoor walls, but hopefully in the next few days we will.

Great pictures and they are making me want to get my climbing gear out. Thanks for posting,

Cheers,

Ralph.

I can see the rope on my notebook screen also, so very well done to get the shots.
