FS - Olympus Zuiko 150mm f2.0 ED

I've finally weakened, and decided if I'm ever going to get a 14-35mm f2 zoom and an E5 I'm going to have to sell my under-used 150mm f2 prime...

This is in mint condition: since getting it in 2006 I've only used it 4 or 5 days a year for motorsport events and for shots of some (ageing) friends' rock band concerts. Front and rear elements are unmarked as far as I can see, and the controls move smoothly and without looseness.

A few photos:

http://tinypic.com/m/e98zo9/3
http://tinypic.com/m/e98zro/3
http://tinypic.com/m/e98zrp/3

The sale includes front and rear caps and the hood, box, manual and soft case (which I've never used, and forgot to photograph). The serial number's 0200014xx.

For the lens I'm looking for 1100, with me wearing the PayPal fees.

It weighs a meaty 2600g or so when packed & protected - I reckon it will cost around 25 - 27 to send Express48 Parcelforce to the UK mainland (that would include up to 1500 insurance compensation): I'd just charge whatever the postage cost actually came to once we'd agreed the method. I would insist on insurance to cover the final cost of the lens, however, to protect both seller and purchaser.

As an alternative, collection in person after cleared payment could be arranged.

I'm sure I don't need to extol the quality of the lens on this board, or to mention the price that these go for new from UK vendors, but to whet your appetite here's Andy Elliott's review:

http://fourthirds-user.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6030

(I have used it frequently with my own EC-14, and I agree it works really well with this)

Many thanks.

This is a sensational lens - it's remarkably compact and yet a stunning performer. I think it's an unsung hero. It's our least hired Top Pro lens by a long way and it doesn't deserve to be.

I've just been playing with it with the EC-20 - basically, it's the best performing lens with the EC-20, a nice, compact 300f4 that focusses down to 1.4m and is very, very sharp.

I notice that the AF is way less hesitant than the 150/2 I hired, so I think the hire one may need a bit of looking at. The AF in general is much faster on Mark's old lens too...

Well done on selling yours

You'd think there was something wrong with mine with the amount of interest it has had (genuine interest that is...)

I used the hire one in a variety of conditions - but only realised that there might be something not quite right after using this one from Mark. I guess you have a number of them to compare - thanks for taking a look!

Re: FS - Olympus Zuiko 150mm f2.0 ED

I must say I always found it to be very fast-focusing; quite noticeably faster than my 50-200 mkI at the same events.
I did think it was a bit slower with the EC-14 fitted, but I was using an E-620 of course, and I was hard pushed to see much image degradation.

I'm very glad this has gone to a good home.

I'd love to have one, only it will have to come after the 14-35 and 7-14. So it will be a while ...

We did have two, but one was borrowed back by Olympus for a project. What exactly, if you can describe, was the characteristic of the difference you noticed?

Ian

PS Just had the lens on the E-5 and it seems to be working normally.

I'm sure we could verify which serial number lens I borrowed - maybe Oly has the one I borrowed. I felt the focussing just seemed quite slow without the TC - much slower than the 35-100 or the 300 (which are the only other micromotor teles I have). With the EC-14, the focus locking and accuracy suffered, even in brightish daylight. With the EC-20, I mostly had to resort to manual focussing. With Mark's old lens, I had no such problems. That said, it was on the E-5, the hire lens was on the E-3.

That's about all I can remember - sorry not to be more scientific. The E-3 with the new lens seems fine with a quick test.

Andy
