Re: East midlands meet??

I'd love to make the Quorn gathering on 16 April if I can. Re Crich Tramway Museum you can check out their events here. 29 May is the Enthusiasts Day which used to be called the Tramathon and they try to get as many trams and service cars into operation as possible. Another good event is the Starlight Haloween on 29 October when the museum is open until 9pm giving the opportunity for night shots. There's a reduction on admission for groups of 10 or more (2 off basic price for adults - 9 instead of 11).

Re: East midlands meet??

I am very tempted, but as I will be driving down from Edinburgh to Loughborough that day, I might not make it.

Re: East midlands meet??

Good to see some enthusiasm for my suggestion.
I thought I'd better start to firm stuff up so as to generate a bit more interest.

I plan to roll up at about 11.30 (trains start to run thereabouts).
I've done a recce and it seems the cafe is closed (they are building another next door).
There seems to be bags of space so we could set up an enclave in a corner of the car park.

I can collect anyone who wants to arrive at Loughborough mainline station if they arrange in advance.

Can everyone bring as much kit as possible so we can all have a drool.

Here is a list of who I think is coming, can you add/delete names:

Homer Simpson
Patchwork
Lightingman
Pepper

Re: East midlands meet??

This has just caught my eye, I live in Uttoxeter and I've never been to a meet before. What am I missing?

No idea
I've never been to one either.

My expectations/hopes are:

A bit of a chinwag
Making new acquaintances
Hopefully some advice from the more expert
A drool over kit - by the way, you are not allowed to come unless you bring that E5.
A few photo opportunities coupled with some advice
A sunny day!

What are others hoping to get out of it?

Re: East midlands meet??

Homer,

Great job in organising this meet. Unfortunately I can't make this day, but I'm sure everyone who attends will have a good day. Fingers crossed for good light.

Re: East midlands meet??

Hi everyone, I have only just discovered and joined the forum despite being and E system user for a couple of years. I live just outside Loughborough also (Burton on the Wolds) and Quorn GCR would be a good idea. (Incidentally I dropped into The Loughborough GCR station on Saturday while killing time and was very impressed by the engines in steam, but cursing that I didn't have a camera with me!).

If you are still up for it I will pop along at 11.00 but I can't stop beyond about 1.00 pm (Tigers at home). Probably worth checking out what locos/trains are running and their times for that day.

Re: East midlands meet??

Welcome Swordfish, you & I must get together

Would be great if you can make it
Don't blame you giving the Tigers a priority though

Re: East midlands meet??

Guys,

Any objections to me tagging along? I've moved to canon but ...

Also, I have mentioned the meet to another Oly user and he is interested in coming so I was going to give him a lift.

Kind regards

Graydon.

No objections from me at all, at the end of the day its the person taking the image that matters not what equipment they are using
