pen drop in price??

i am a reader not a poster and i do enjoy this forum a lot. with all of your great wisdom in the olympus field what is going on with the pen prices? i am really interested in the e-pl1 to use with my old manual focus lenses, especially my konica collection. now i see the prices dropping everywhere or as with the e-p1 closeouts. in the last thirty days the e-pl1 has dropped at least $80 here in the states. in the past that has meant it is on its way to being replaced by a newer model, it isn't selling well or now the economy is so bad they can't sell them. hate to look a gift horse in the mouth so to speak but don't want to buy a brand new outdated camera either. what is you best guess?
thanks in advance, larry

I think it's quite normal. When a popular new model is introduced there is often a shortage of the product and this maintains prices. As supply improves and the early adopters have been served, price competition comes into play. I'm sure the E-PL1 has a good few months before it will be replaced.

Re: pen drop in price??

What is to be expected (according to an Olympus employee), as soon a the E-P1 is cleared out (this month) the E-P2 will be available for a lower price-tag without the VF-2 viewer.
