Re: Communal Dragonfly, Butterfly and Insect photo thread

My wife came home with a couple of these recently:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Incognito...75b43a201aa480

It's a bit like a mini piezo gas lighter and did light our hob gas. It is supposed to inhibit antihistamine release if the zap the bite area. It gave me some relief on a bite several days old.

It might just be the thing to make a tick let go. Although I have, over many decades, spent thousands of hour where I might pick one up, I have never found one on me.

Harold

Personally, although

Larva of Buff-tip Moth Phalera bucephala

I came across a colony in a wood during a fungus survey in 2017. I was convinced that I had posted the images but they were still stored only as RAW files.

As far as I recall, there were a dozen or more larvae, of which I seem to have photographed only one.

The stereos are crosseye.

Olympus EM-1, (aperture priority), Olympus 4/3 50mm f2 macro, f9 or f11, hand-held.

When my dogs got ticks after frolicking in the long grass (!) I was advised to cover the tick in butter. Apparently that suffocates them. It certainly worked....
