Re: Do you want a second chance?

How about a thought for someone with real issues?

Is HRM going to have to take One's passport when heading for Balmoral for Christmas?

No, it will just be like visiting any other Commonwealth country.

Re: Do you want a second chance?

I believe that it is current SNP policy that if independence is achieved the Queen should remain the queen of Scotland so she would not need a passport.

I agree that there were many issues including the consitutional ones that were not properly addressed during the referendum campaign.

I suspect that in future prime ministers will be very reluctant to propose a referendum as a solution to their problems.

Re: Do you want a second chance?

Sorry only read 2 pages of the 7 as enough is enough....

I voted LEAVE.....and instead of ignoring the young who have "to live with the consequences"....I did it FOR the young. When I married in 75 I was on a low wage and got a mortgage on a small house and move a couple of times to the modest place I live in now....it took me 40 years to finally finish off repayments.....BUT AT LEAST I DID GET ON THE LADDER.....try it nowadays....a couple on quite good money have no chance of getting a house at the moment and if there are another 5-10 or 15 million more people here how the hell can there ever be enough places to live.
People spend a few days in tents at Glastonbury - well we will all end up living in them with no schools, hospitals etc.....the country just cannot fit in any more people. I will be out of it all before most people and great as I dont want to see all the struggles my descendants will face.

350M a week...Yes a true figure.....Farage explained it hundreds of times but of course all the media and all the remains ignored it.....If I go for a job I get an hourly rate...its up to me to work out how much that is a week/month/year and then how much i have left after stoppages.....all this was explained if the ears are not blocking it out.

2nd referendum.....why stop at 2 ...I say lets play Best of...???
millions who have signed that stupid thing dont even have a vote over here.

30% voted out...well at last a vote based on PR....we are being governed by a party that got only a tiny minority of the populations vote.....and they can send us to a 3rd world war.

Staffing hospitals.....invite in Nurses on the Aussie system while TRAINING up British ....not enough being trained.

Europe is all going far left as its in a dire crisis and with the dictatorship of Brussels it was the right decision to leave.

Re: Do you want a second chance?

Well we do have a democratic system and we rely on the wisdom of the population when we have a general election. Not all decisions could be made by referendum. For example decisions on public spending have to balance the level of taxation and the affordability of public services. I doubt if a proposal to raise taxes would ever be passed by a referendum.

But the result of the recent referendum means that our Chancellor, appointed by the Prime Minister of our elected government, will, at last, be able to lower VAT, if he so wishes.

Once we extricate ourselves from the EU he will have that ability though if the present economic turmoil continues I doubt if we will see many tax cuts.

Isn't this precisely what the politicians wanted? Everything EXACTLY the same but we have the ability to change it (what the country wanted) without actually changing anything (what the politicians wanted).

Re: Do you want a second chance?

We want the same trade deal out as in. Don't clubs who allow outsiders access demand a premium. Why would they allow full access without obeying all the rules and contributing to costs. Also someone mentioned Nissan and Honda, if, as a contingency, they were talking to say Slovakia and Hungary, would that influence their agreement to any trade deal. Apparently all members would have to agreed on terms. If that is right best of luck.

Re: Do you want a second chance?

One of the roving reporters on the BBC coverage made, given the title of this thread, a singularly apposite slip of the tongue when asked about the chances of vote for Brexit provoking a second independence referendum in Scotland. He mistakenly called it a "Neverendum" before correcting himself

Cheers,

JohnGG

Re: Do you want a second chance?

Had this been done years ago, we could have avoided the humiliation at the hands (feet) of Iceland.

Re: Do you want a second chance?

I hear the Italian PM is to be involved in exit negotiations today.

Had it been Berlusconi I'm sure a bung would have fixed it.
