I know they're no replacement for a real kit but it fits nicely in the corner of my (very small) office, but as I work from home I often have a quick play during the day!

I also play guitar too, some of our original songs can be heard here:

http://www.echoesonline.co.uk/
And you can turn the volume down to stay in good with the neighbours. My son plays guitar mainly plus piano (electric, with a volume control ), but also goes down stairs to have a bash on the drums (the ones that can't be turned down except with a rubber pad), but can you believe it was my wife that suggested getting them?

I've had a try of bagpipes & admire excellent pipers talent but I'm sure my neighbours (& family) are greatful I don't play them. I'll just stick to fiddle & whistle mostly & maybe just get the trombone out on New Years eve.

Re: Other Hobbies

Nothing as glamorous as all you folks........or expensive ...lol

Photography came about from a lifelong interest in EVERYTHING to do with nature and wildlife. As lots of you have said the photography and then the computer afters take up so much time, and the same is for me.
I have in the past done night school level watercolour painting but having to do all sorts of shifts ended that.
My RINGYNECK name came from my other hobby of Bird keeping.....I have a Green Male and Lutino Female ringneck Parakeet and a few Cockatiels as well as a red-rumped Parakeet.
Had about 100 birds at one time but the time needed to look after them was just too much.
The rest of my time is taken up with sport watching and supporting Aston Villa...an embarrassment at the moment.

Keith.

Re: Other Hobbies

I was surprised to see people with similar hobbies as me; I always assumed my wife & kids were right when they describe me as a sad old anorak

Hobbies include:
Woodworking
Woodturning
Gardening
Old landrovers
trout fishing in far north Lochs

...oh and I take a few photos too

Re: Other Hobbies

I used to spend most of my free time playing sport, mainly badminton, but in the last 3 years I have blinded myself in the right eye playing cricket, ruptured my bicep ten pin bowling and most recently ruptured my achilles playing badminton! I'm still recovering from that one so am more than happy to spend most of my spare time sedately taking photos.

And I wear a kilt too!

Oh, come on, stop picking on me! Just because I fiddle around doesn't mean I fool around (married life is too good for me).

Here are a few memories of my passion in music.

Each of us have different, but enjoyable hobbies & life would be boring if we were all the same.

It's been interesting to hear what others are doing.

Re: Other Hobbies

I have a horse and that takes up much of my spare time, and also gives me plenty of photo opportunities.
But when I'm not looking after him I also enjoy:
bird watching
gardening
reading
singing (mostly 16th century unaccompanied stuff in a small group)
and of course geology (fossils) - the job!

Re: Other Hobbies

Chen style Tai Chi - it involves more quick movements than most types you see done in the UK, which are all done slowly. If anyone is interested look up Chen Zhenglei on You Tube. (Can't post a link to it from work.) BTW the way if anyone does my outfit is in Black not lurid red.

Re: Other Hobbies

More into mountainbiking than photography at the moment. Other things include chairing Cwmbran Photographic Society, road cycling, listening to rock music (including proggy stuff), a little reading, DIY, grandkids and playing with with my recently acquired Mazda MX-5.

Re: Other Hobbies

My dad (who's 83) talked me into getting a fixed gear bike (When the rear wheel turns, the pedals turn, in both directions). He used to ride one when he was young, brakeless although I'm a bit of a wuss and bought mine with a front brake.......I'll let you know if it becomes a hobby.
