Venice!

I was with my family in Venice too for a late Easter break during the last four days.

Here's a few shots to get the ball rolling:

This is Elizabeth proudly sporting her newly bought (and subsequently lost!) I love Venice tee shirt.

These were all taken on an Olympus Pen E-PL2, using various lenses. As we flew on GrumpyAir, there was no way my DSLR gear was going to fit into our carry-on only baggage...

The weather forecast was rubbish, but as you can see we had great weather with non-stop sunshine and gentle cooling breezes.

More to come!

Ian

Nope, the first one is just an E-PL2 RAW tweaked in Lightroom 3.4. I did do some bracketing for later HDR treatment though

The hotel is not in Venice itself, unfortunately. There is a theory that the tee shirt may have gone out with the laundry some how, by accident. If it shows up again they will post it on.

More coming up

Re: Venice!

I must say Ian, the exposure has been handled beautifully between the sunny and shade side of the ehh... street in number one. Very well done

Ah - didn't bracket that particular scene, but I could apply Dramatic Tone Art Filter and see if does anything for it...

Re: Venice!

They are a lovely set. I love the colours of the first one, but of course, the one that captures my attention is the old violinist & I can pretty much guarantee the violin did not have the tone of a Stradivarius & it looks like he has much more than his money's worth out of that budget violin. Ian, do you remember what (music) he was playing?

I will be looking forward to seeing more photos & I hope Elizabeth gets her T shirt back too.

Re: Venice!

What,no Rialto bridge? brings back many happy memories. Thanks. Truly a wonderful place but not in summer-early spring six years since, not alas with an Oly but I had to drink 3 Campari and soda's till they got in line! Oh the things we do for our pictures.

Re: Venice!

Here's a mono version of the violinist:

And a version of the canal scene using the Dramatic Tone Art Filter:

Re: Venice!

Smashing shots Ian, I hope you all had a lovely time.

You know me and the way I often like to overprocess ... I think the chap on his violin could do with some more, well... shall we say... masculinity... Do you have any objection if I have a bash?

Cheers, Ian.

I had a go, giving him the high contrast, rather rugged look. All edits and processing done in Lightroom V3.4
