FOR SALE: My wonderful 'OM' kit

Well as per the title I have decided to sell my 'OM' film outfit, as many members may know I'm a committed film user so before I go into 'detail' I shall give a rationale on my reasoning......

...... Lets be honest I've got WAY too much kit, and the em5 mkII has indeed rekindled my 'digital' mojo. It's a wonderful camera and I am bonding/connecting with it in a way that no other digital camera has previously done for me

Because of this I am going to rationalise the 'film' camera options I have, and there are quite a few. I love my Leica M's and have in fact just pre-ordered two very limited edition 35 & 50mm lenses for them which are costing quite a 'pretty penny' too, so that has also finally polarised my thinking about what I actually need or should I say 'want' to keep.

I have decided that as much as I love the OM system, I can see me using the em5 mkII and Leica M's 99.9% of the time therefore why hold onto it.

OK, what have we got........

1) OM4ti, boxed and as close to new as possible
2) 100mm F2.0 ( yes the F2 not F2.8 ) ... just had full CLA at Luton Cameras
3) 50mm F1.2 ( 50mm not 55mm ) ....... " " " " " " "
3) 50mm F2 Macro ( the rare F2, not F3.5 )
4) 28mm F2.0 ( yes F2.0 not F2.8 )
5) 21mm F3.5 with correct and very hard to find hood
6) 85mm F2.0
7) 135mm f2.8
8) 135mm F3.5

and here they are.........

1) OM4Ti ...... I was very lucky to find this almost unused example at Ffordes. It is a STUNNER, you have to look very hard for any signs of use, I believe it had hardly been used by the previous owner and I have put about a dozen rolls through it. Complete with box, instructions, protective base plate cover, flash shoe cover, film gate paper card shutter protector. Truly a rare opportunity to acquire possibly one of the finest examples available and it is in full and perfect working order. I am not going to be greedy, one could expect to pay in excess of £500.00 for such an example, I am offering it for sale at £299.00 and I will pay the postage via RMSD.

Now the 100mm F2.0 ED .....
As I am sure you know, this is a very rare and highly regarded optic. One of only a few within the 'film OM' system that contains 'ED' glass. This is a STELLAR lens, truly magical in its rendering and bokeh. Condition wise it is very close to mint, it has very recently had a full CLA ( Clean, lube, adjust ) at Luton Cameras at a cost of £80.00 . Thus as you can imagine everything is in 'tip top' condition, full internal clean, new lubricant, full iris clean and rebuild, a wonderful example of this wonderful lens.
One thing I must mention is that the built-in hood has lost its 'resistance' and will not stay extended. Luton Cameras said they could not fix that as the parts are no longer available, now to be honest the hood is next to useless anyway for is is IMO too short. I found that the hood for the 75mm F1.8 is a perfect fit, look closely and you will see this too, it is both the right diameter to tighten onto the built-in hood and long enough to provide correct protection from possible flare. I added a band of electrical tape to the barrel behind the built-in hood so that once I retracted the hood it stayed there and no longer voluntarily slides forward. In one image I have extended the hood so that you can clearly see the tape, with the hood retracted this is naturally not visible and it does an excellent job of holding the hood back, a good work-around IMO. Filter size = 55mm.
So in short what we have here is a superb example of a very rare Zuiko, and one which benefits from a recent CLA by Luton Cameras ( copy of invoice for work will be provided ). There are a couple available on eBay by Japanese sellers but IMO are no where near as nice as mine. There is one on eBay UK by a UK seller, it's £849.00

I am being a little more realistic and asking £550.00 including postage via RMSD

Re: FOR SALE: My wonderful 'OM' kit

Now for the 50mm F1.2,

Like the 100mm F2.0, a rarely available lens and again like my copy of the 100mm it has recently had a full CLA by Luton Cameras at a cost of £80.00.

This lens is also close to mint condition and also comes with its original and correct hood ( 50m f1.2 ) which is rarely available. Super shallow DOF at F1.2, works great on m4/3 ( need a suitable adapter ) too, darn site cheaper than a Nocticron and not a million miles behind in optical quality too, I know for I have the Nocticron too.

Filter size = 49mm

There are a few on eBay at the moment, most are in Japan, asking more than me plus factor in import duties and VAT ( yes you WILL get knobbled for it, believe me, I know from experiance ) and IMO they are not as nice as mine nor benefit from a recent Olympus Authorised Repair Centre service.

£299.00 including delivery via RMSD

Re: FOR SALE: My wonderful 'OM' kit

Now for the 50mm F2.0 Macro......

Another legend of the OM system, arguably THE best 50mm by not just Olympus but any 35mm SLR manufacturer period!

SUPER, SUPER SHARP! Simply amazing bokeh, I really will miss this lens but I must be sensible and rationalise

Condition wise, it's very clean. Yes you can see signs of use, but crucially not abuse, the optics are unmarked, there is a little internal dust but nothing that effects the results obtainable with this magical Zuiko. It is also boxed.

The iris is snappy and there is no sign of oil on the blades, focussing is super slick.

This is such a 'rarely seen for sale' optic, it is so good that very few owners want to sell theirs ( I could fall into that bracket but I shall remain steadfast ).

Filter size = 55mm

Typical recent eBay prices for the few put up for sale have been in the region of £350 - £550

I am asking £250.00 including postage via RMSD for this legend

Re: FOR SALE: My wonderful 'OM' kit

Now for another 'star' of the OM system .... the 28mm F2.0

This is another very highly regarded and sought after OM Zuiko, unlike the other 28mm lenses ( f3.5 & F2.8 ) in the OM line this F2.0 benefits from CRC ..... 'close range correction, in other words it contains 'floating elements' to ensure the highest optical quality not just at mid and long range but close up too.

This 'little gem' is also in very nice condition, optically it is unmarked, the iris is snappy and there is no sign of oil on the blades. Focussing is super slick and the F2.0 aperture ensures the viewfinder image is bright. Cosmetically there is one area of light wear to the aperture ring as seen in a photograph below but that is all, otherwise it is very, very good.

The lens is boxed, with paperwork and case plus its correct F2.0 screw-on hood. The filter size = 49mm.

This is THE 28mm Zuiko to own, fast, floating elements, very compact for its speed and superb performance.

Again I am asking what IMO is a very good price ..... £200.00 including delivery via RMSD

Re: FOR SALE: My wonderful 'OM' kit

Now for the turn of the 21mm F3.5.....

Yet another very highly regarded and sought after OM Zuiko. This is the earlier 'single coated' version but no less a wonderful performer, the MC version is rather rare and not often available.

Again in very, very good condition and also comes with the correct and extremely rare hood
This hood is the genuine one for both the 21mm f3.5 and the 35mm 'shift' lens, you hardly ever see them available, most 21mm F3.5 & 35mm Shift lenses available do not have this hood with them.

This lens is not boxed but the hood is. The filter size = 49mm.

Condition wise it is excellent, there is only the lightest signs of use to the barrel, mount and aperture ring. The optics are unblemished, the iris is snappy and there is no oil on the blades.

Another sought after Zuiko that fetches 'good money' ( typically £300 without hood ) be-it eBay or via a dealer.

I am asking £225.00 including delivery via RMSD

Re: FOR SALE: My wonderful 'OM' kit

Ok, it's the turn of the 85mm F2.0 .....

Yes, yet another classic dare I say legend and much sought after. With the exception of the 21mm, like all the others listed before it this lens is a Multi-Coated version.

Very compact for its speed, it uses 49mm filters, this is another 'little gem'. Condition wise it is very nice, showing just light signs of use, optically very clean, the iris is snappy, there is however the slightest sign of oil appearing on the blades. It is very little and does not effect the performance of the lens however it is only right that I mention its presence. You can see how little there is in the last photograph. I was going to send it to Luton Cameras for a full CLA which would be £80.00 however rather than do that and then list it at a price of around £200.00 I have decided to list it at £120.00 as it is, the purchaser will be getting a very good buy at this price for a service is not yet essential, and should he/she decide to get it serviced they will still not be out of pocket as really clean MC examples are normally priced around the £250.00 mark

Oh nearly forgot, it comes with its correct lens hood, case, box and paperwork.

So there we are, £120.00 including delivery via RMSD

Re: FOR SALE: My wonderful 'OM' kit

Last-but-one, the 135mm F2.8 ......

This is in almost new condition, there is just visible 'tiny' and I mean tiny specs of oil on the rear of the blades. It does not cause a problem and as you can see in the final photograph it really is very small. I mention it because it is only right to do so, otherwise this lens is MINT. I have made an allowance in the price.

Cosmetically there are no signs of use, and I mean no signs. Optically, again it is mint, the iris is snappy too.

It comes boxed, with case and paperwork.

Filter size is 55mm.

With a suitable adapter it would make an excellent compact telephoto on M4/3 ..... 270mm F2.8

I would like £75.00 including delivery via RMSD for this one

Re: FOR SALE: My wonderful 'OM' kit

And finally ( well for now, I do have a 200mm F5 somewhere, need to find it ) .... 135mm F3.5

A lovely little Zuiko, late example .... marked 'Zuiko" not 'E-Zuiko'. Single coated as all 135mm F3.5 are. Super condition, not boxed but does come in genuine Olympus pouch. Very compact, filter size is 49mm.

Optically very, very good, I would say unblemished. Cosmetically equally as good, this is a very fine example indeed. The iris is snappy and there is no sign of oil on the blades. There is only the lightest sign of dust within, you may be able to just see a 'spec' in the final image, there is so little it will have no bearing on the contrast of the images captured with this lens.

I am asking £35.00 including postage for this little gem

Re: FOR SALE: My wonderful 'OM' kit

I can't afford any of it, but that doesn't stop me drooling. I'm sure it will be snapped up soon, especially the probably unique virtually brand new OM4Ti.

Re: FOR SALE: My wonderful 'OM' kit

Lens porn .

Just ordered a 40-150 + mc14 so funds are dried up. Otherwise i'd be tempted for that 28/2. And possibly the 50/1.2. Also maybe the 100/2 or 85/2.

Re: FOR SALE: My wonderful 'OM' kit

So no 90mm f/2 macro or 180mm f/2.

Simon, I thought later 135mm f/3.5 were multi-coated.

Re: FOR SALE: My wonderful 'OM' kit

What a wonderful kit shame it's for sale but great you've bonded so well with the 5 mk2 Simon. Hope this goes to a good home and gets used rather than just being sold on.

Re: FOR SALE: My wonderful 'OM' kit

It all looks so beautiful Simon - are you really sure you want to sell? This gear is just classic photographic engineering at its very best. They'll never make gear like this again.
