Potential E-M1 firmware update coming

seems like there could be a raft of new features being activated in the E-M1.

http://www.43rumors.com/ft3-this-is-...mware-upgrade/

Mind you seems to have taken them a little while to sort out the few glitches mentioned.

Just need mine back with its rear grip re-attached properly.

Re: Potential E-M1 firmware update coming

Hmm .. if it's to be believed, it's only of interest to video makers. If I'd wanted to shoot video, I'd have bought a dedicated video camera. I know it costs next-to nothing to include video features, but just think of that extra code taking up valuable space.

Re: Potential E-M1 firmware update coming

I have been pleased with the video Output from my two micro four thirds cameras. In Relation to the em1 the Firmware Update, if it actually comes will make it even better. I used to use a separate video cam, but with a big sd card i can use my em1 for both photography and video.

The part "They add also new functionality for the pictures mode....." is little more intriguing though.

I have never found that the EM1,and Em5 were that great with video and therefore have a dedicated video camera with an F1.2 lens...it keeps focus and tracking far better than the Olympus... so keeping both atm.

Well, I don't use video much therefore it is good enough for me. My main interest remains stills.

Re: Potential E-M1 firmware update coming

I was hoping they would sort out the noise problem on longer exposures. Using a 10 stopper it is a pain waiting double time to use NR infact use the M5 as it is a lot better

If they bring the Live Composite from the E-M10 ( https://www.facebook.com/OlympusOMD.Official ) then that might be usable instead.

Yes, I would enjoy playing with that - and probably on scenes not intended for it!

Re: Potential E-M1 firmware update coming

I'm waiting for the Rumors site to tell us that Olympus have a firmware upgrade that turns the 4/3rds sensor into a full frame version

(as to the rest - I'll believe it when Olympus release the firmware, but I'm not holding my breath )

Re: Potential E-M1 firmware update coming

I'm inclined to believe this rumour. When I went to an Olympus event with Damian McGilicuddy, he was running his E-M1 with some "special features". There's also rumours that have been circulating for a while about improved EVF capabilities.

Live Composite sounds sexy but how much use I'd make of it is, well, debateable...

Brian, you are right to be pessimistic as this is rated as only FM3 accuracy which mean 41-61%. I only really believe FM1 rumours as I have always found them to be entirely accurate, albeit they come to fruition some time later!!
