Butterfly Tent at Natural History Museum

I just had a week off, and had occasion to go and finally visit the butterfly tent exhibit in the grounds of the Natural History Museum.

It is well worth a visit for anyone who has an interest in such things...aside from the close up photography opportunities, there's something quite amazing about having massive (compared to native species anyway) butterflies landing on your shoulder. There's also a display of 100's of pupae lined up so you can watch butterflies emerging, which is worth the visit alone. There are always a handful coming out at any given time, so you can't really miss out either!

A warning though to anyone who might visit...it gets chuffing hot in there!!

I wandered around snapping away with the 35mm macro...thankfully the butterflies there aren't quite as reluctant to sit and pose as most of the British natives!

I haven't had time to try and identify them all yet...so apologies for the lack of species names!

It's a shame I couldn't get these 2 without the white netting in the background..

Great images!
Chasing a couple of Tortoise Shells around a Dandelion patch yesterday now seems even more pointless
