Viewer 1 for 'new' E-1, please.

Morning people,

I have just become the proud owner of a E-1 but the firmware is at v1.1. No CDs were included so I am currently unable to update. I have read through all the threads regarding this issue and so far ran into all the problems previously mentioned.

Could someone please help me out with a copy of Viewer 1 in order that I can carry out an update? I promise to send back any CD promptly.

Thanks,

Rob

Re: Viewer 1 for 'new' E-1, please.

Huge thanks to Bill for the start point.

Well, that was far more complicated than I thought. Playing with the compatibility layers in Win7 doesn't solve the problem - yes, it allows you to install the software but it wouldn't recognise the camera at all. Finally managed to find an old installation of XP which worked seamlessly.

The new problem is how to change the 'HELP' bit to 'SOLVED'!

Thanks,

Rob

Ah, you didn't say you were on Windows 7 or I'd have warned you about that one.
I'm still on XP myself.
Glad you got it sorted in the end though

Re: Viewer 1 for 'new' E-1, please.

Probably yes, I think it depends on the version of firmware it is running.
If it is still on the original, never having been updated, then I think only Viewer 1 will recognise the camera.
For later versions I think the Oly Camera Updater works OK, as does Viewer 2
The last firmware update was years ago, and I can't imagine that there will be any more released, so if your new body comes with 1.5 then the only reason to connect it will be when using it as the platform to update lenses.

Also check your PMs as I've just sent you a link to Viewer 1 in case you do need it.
Be quick though I it won't stay on the server for much longer.

Re: Viewer 1 for 'new' E-1, please.

If only Olympus would make the upgrades available via a download to run on the computer life would be so much simpler.
