Trying to Blend In

This moth was sitting on our door frame & just blended so well with the timber.

What Moth

I'm always amazed at how well things in nature blend in with their enviroment, which makes spotting something like this a photographers treat.

Re: Trying to Blend In

Love the textures there Ross, the moth looks like velvet.

I would guess that you're enjoying the Sigma 150
I've not used mine for a while but with Spring fast approaching that is sure to change

Thanks Graham. It's one of those things that you have to take the photograph when it's there or you miss it, so I did.

Thanks Huw. I do enjoy using the sigma 150 but like you, I haven't used it much recently over Summer because it's been so wet plus I've also been putting a bit of time into doing some landscaping at home (the times when it's not raining) that's been waiting for the last 20 years. Motivation just takes a while sometimes. Today it's wet again but was needed again after a few weeks of not much falling except for some drizzle or a couple of short storms (heavy downpour & then stops) that just washes the top soil off.

Re: Trying to Blend In

A lovely, well detailed shot Ross.
I have fitted my Sigma 150 to the E3 and I am looking forward to another season of fun with it.

Re: Trying to Blend In

Thanks Peter & Cathrine. The wing span was about 50mm.

Peter, I hope you do have lots of fun taking some more macro (& not so macro) shots with that lens. I haven't done enough for the last 3 months with weather & other activities taking up time & I need to get some work done to catch up on instrument repairs & I might get some more income too, if I'm lucky.

Re: Trying to Blend In

The upper and lower wings being parrallel to the top and bottom creates a harmonious composition and blending colours top it off.

Well spotted, Ross.

Thanks Mark. Just grabbing the photo opportunity when it presents itself. You have make the effort & get that camera out when they come along.

I second that! Especially since the subject didn't want to be spotted
